I just listed 3 items on eBay, so this is all new to me. Anyway, I am set-up for Paypal, but I am not sure what I need to do to NOT accept credit card payments like the eBay FAQs recommends:

"6. DON’T check the “credit cards” option for PayPal payments if you only want to use the free Personal Account with PayPal. Accepting credit card payments with PayPal requires upgrading to a Premier Account. Fees are then assessed to every incoming payment made through PayPal."

I am afraid I may have selected credit cards and don't know where this option was and how to change it.

Help!

TIA,
Kristi

You should be able to go into your Paypal or Ebay account preferences and select options so that you only accept money transfers.

My listing already are posted with Paypal as payment (credit card options). I did not really know what I was doing when I set this up, obviously.

I think the only way to change it is to pull the listing, right? I already have one bid on one of the three items I put up yesterday.

I am thinking maybe I should just accept payment with credit cards also and pay the fees. Maybe I'll get more bids that way...

Thanks epcotfan!

You could pull the auctions. Just make sure you remove your bidder/s from the auction before closing them. Otherwise the person will win.

I would strongly suggest upgrading your account so you can accept credit cards. You will get more bids. I find most of my buyers prefer to pay via Paypal and they generally use the credit card option.

Best of luck on your auctions :)

My thought was that more people would bid on a fairly new person's auctions if they accepted credit cards. The amount of money it cost to take the cards was fairly insignificant.

Thanks epcotfan - I think I will leave it as is and pay the fees for accepting credit cards thru paypal. The more I think about it, the more I think you are right about the upgraded account.

Now let's hope these first 3 items sell so I am more inclined to clean out more of my house! ;)

Just remember, by upgrading your paypal account to accept credit cards, you pay a fee on ALL paypal transactions whether the buyer pays with available funds in their paypal account or with a credit card. I do, however, think you are better off upgrading. More people will bid on your auctions.

Do you pay the same fee for accepting payments via credit cards as by funds transfer? I didn't realize you'd pay a fee even if they used their checking account to transfer to the seller.

You can still pay via PalPal for free, correct???

disneyatl - I thought you would pay for all paypal transactions if you did upgrade, thanks for confirming! I think I will do it anyway - it might help out with more bidding.

Thanks!

my3kids - my understanding is that you pay for all paypal transactions IF you opt to accept credit cards. Does that make sense?

Go into your Myebay and click the auction. Near the top of the page it will say edit/modify or something like that. Click that. Then scroll down to payment option. Click edit, uncheck Paypal. click save changes and you are done.
