Ebay Motors

My DH wants to buy a used vehicle. He wants a particular brand and very specific features. We have checked all the local lots with no luck. Has anybody ever used Ebay Motors? I found several good deals listed, but I'm really wary about bidding and buying a vehicle I haven't seen. Can anybody share their experiences (good or bad) with Ebay Motors. I also don't really understand how the whole shipping thing works, so if anybody is familiar with that, let me know as well.

We have bought 2 cars from ebay. We have been very happy with the process and the cars. Each buyer we used we very truthful about the condition of the vehicle. We did not do the shipping process, we bought from 2 places we could drive to 4 hours away and 2 hours away.

We've both bought and sold on there and been happy every time. We also have only bought cars within driving distance, so shipping has not been an issue. However at one time I was looking for a Chevy Suburban and there seemed to be alot of good deals in Texas and had looked into having it shipped and if I remember correctly it was around $800-1000? (Texas to Maryland)

We also has someone buy a car my husband sold on there that drove all the way to MD from Colorado! I was shocked but it was a rare, older muscle car that he said just could not be found where they lived so they drove the entire way here and back, trailer and all.

So how do you pay? We would ge getting a bank loan, so how does that work? Did you all get cars from dealers or individuals?

We've always bought from individuals and payment arrangements are usually worked out prior to putting in a bid. We've paid a deposit by Paypal and the balance in cash upon picking up the vehicle.

Dh bought a motorcycle off eBay motors and was very pleased with the deal. We paid for the whole thing via Paypal AFTER FIL went to look at it.

It was a very smooth transaction and we were very pleased with how everything went.

But I would limit my buying to vehicles within driving distance.

We bought my Toyota FJ Cruiser from Ebay. We couldn't find any used ones around here, and this one was in Boca Raton. A lot of the Ebay auctions we found were dealers, as this one was. My DH called the dealer, worked out a better price, the dealer set it at "Buy It Now" for the agreed upon price, and we bought it. We paid by check and had it shipped to Savannah for about $500. When DH drove it home from the truck he told me I had to find my own, he liked it so much he was keeping it.

We found another one, but not at Ebay..just like mine. I hate it when couples do that!

Both cars were exactly as stated and described. Not a thing wrong with them (which there shouldn't have been-mine had 6500 miles and DH's had 2800 miles) We have enjoyed them very much and never regretted the purchase.

Dh has also purchased a couple of classic Corvettes from Ebay without any problems.

We have bought 4 cars from there and we are getting ready to buy our 5th from them as well. 2 we had shipped. Each experience was great.
