Ebay help needed please!

I listed a bassinet on Ebay and I clearly stated "Local pick up Only" I listed it really cheap and had a couple of inquiries from locally.

The winner and only bidder lives in Louisiana (I am in New Hampshire) What do I do? I do not have any boxes that it would fit in, nor do I have the desire to go searching for one or ship it out. If I had planned on shipping, I would have started the bidding a lot higher for the cost of boxes, pcking material and gas to/from someplace to ship it from.

why can't people read before they bid. Even after I sent an invoice, asking where she wanted to meet for pick=up, she replied back asking for shipping costs.

If she seriously wants you to ship it, I would include a handling charge to cover all supplies and time involved. Sorry you're having to deal with people who don't know how to read.

You need to email and tell her the auction was for local pickup only. If she doesn't want to back out of the sale, then she needs to agree for packing and shipping. Tell her you'll take it to the local mailboxes etc (or similar) to have it packed and shipped by them. Make sure she pays you UP FRONT for that cost. Else, you should reject her winning bid as she did not follow the rules of the auction.

The closest place for me to shp it would be more than 30 minutes away plus it would include packing 3 kids into a car and moving seats in my van etc... Was way not worth the hassle. It sold for 3.50 and the costs for everything else would be like $25-$30 at least. I don't think she would want to pay it.

It is also the first thing this person has ever won on ebay. I feel almost bad but am upset because I have to do this now!

You can enter a "dispute" with Ebay and get your commission fees back. I wouldn't bother to go through all that trouble for $3.50. Send her an email letting her know that you can't sell it to her because you are unable to ship it (I wouldn't give her all the details on why you don't want to ship) and remind her that your auction stated that it was pick up only. Let her know you are recording a dispute with Ebay because it is the only way you can recoup your fees. She didn't follow the rules of the auction, so you aren't obligated to complete the sale.

And if you had more than one bidder you can offer it to them as a second chance offer and tell them local pick up only.

You are not required to sell this item when the bidder did not meet your auction terms. Simply email her telling her this, and file with Ebay for your auction fees.

It's absolutley no trouble to get your end of listing fees back. I would first send her an email, telling her the shipping would be about $40, hardly worth it for her, and would she like to end this sale, file, and put the reason as stated in another posting, that they didn't go by the auctions rules (pick-up).
I personally wouldn't relist, if that's all it's going for, but if you do, put local pickup in a nice bright red, at the top and bottom of the description.

Do you have a local publication that you can list things for sale in? We have the Pennysaver which you can put a listing in for free if you are selling for $25 or less. I usually list something every week!

As for ebay,you definately should file to get your fees back. Why should you have to pay for someone else's mistake

You could have made $3.50 at a garage sale with no listing fees! I did this last year with a bidder from Italy (my ad clearly stated US only) and they understood (especially when I quoted her overseas shipping costs!). Email her and explain and she will probably be okay with it.
