Had an account for several years, over 100 reviews (100%); last year my account was locked "due to someone may have tried to use it"--just TRY to get ahold of facebook. Ain't happenin'

SO went to buy something recently, simply created a new account. Tried to log in today--SAME THING AGAIN!!

WHAT IS GOING ON??!!

Any tips from anyone???

I admit sometimes I forget my password; at least other site simply email me & I can reset my password.

Doesn't ebay have a phone number? If not you could try calling paypal and talking to them.

A few years ago I got an email from ebay warning me that someone attempted to get into my account but they simply told me to change my passwords on my ebay and paypal accounts. They never closed my ebay account completely.
Maybe things have changed and they shut down accounts now to be on the safe side. Hackers are very busy these days it seems.

Why would you use facebook to try to get in touch with someone? Call them. There is a link somewhere on the website where you enter your phone # and they call you back I think.

If you never resolved the issue with your old account, you cannot just open a new account. That is why your new account is locked. You need to contact eBay.

I realize it is frustrating but the only tip I can give is to get on the phone and struggle through whatever wait times and call center hurdles they put in your way to resolve it. Or, give up on EBAY altogether.

You are facing two problems here. The first being that the EBAY/Paypal environment deals with a constant barrage of fraudulent and scam-type behavior and when an account hits there "problem" list, their best option is to shut it down and then keep shutting it down whenever they are alerted to re-registrations via IP addresses or identical banking or other identifying data.

Think of it as their business specific "Do Not Fly List." Just like there are thousands of innocent people who find themselves on the government Do Not Fly registry for one reason or another, millions of people hit the EBAY watch list for no reason other than a series of innocent events flagged them.

The second is that EBAY is not ideally set-up for live person, phone call support.
In a perfect world, you could call and get it resolved in a short amount of time with little effort. EBAY is not a perfect world.

So you are just going to have to make the decision whether or not EBAY is important enough to you to put yourself through some hassle and problems to get it worked out.

Sorry.

So, you never fixed the issue with the original account?

Then you just opened a new account with the same IP address, information, and most likely type of payment.

And you are surprised they shut it down too?

As I already posted, if your eBay account is suspended, you are not allowed to open a new account.
