Hi.

So I sold some wedding stuff on ebay 5/29/03. The buyer never paid. I sent a follow up invoice and when it still went unpaid I filed a NPB (non paying bidder) with ebay. Because this generates another notice to the buyer, she emailed me back to stop harrassing her. Excuse me? So I tried politely and professionally to explain to her the situation. Anyway, fast forward 60 days and I've done everything I can with ebay and relisted the item. Since it's finally over, I leave her feedback. Today, she leaves retaliatory feedbackfor me.. and I quote "attempted to contact & work out, seller uncoperative/unprofessional buyer beware
". Just because she's peeved over hers, she gives me my first negative out of almost 90 feedbacks. It really ticks me off that ebay doesn't monitor these and only let factual negatives be left.

Thanks for listening.

I SOOO hear you!! It's about the only drawback I know of on Ebay! The only negative and neutral I have are completely RETALIATORY! All you'd have to do is cross-reference to see. Not sure I've even left a negative but, I received a negative for leaving a well-deserved neutral.

I handle my 'negatives' (and even my neutral opinions) privately now....just today, as a matter of fact! I let them know I will leave NO feedback and, that they should feel lucky.

I prefer to leave MY own status as it is and, let those sellers know I'll never be back again.

It's just the occasional bad apple tho, isn't it? Sorry they ruined your 'image'...don't worry tho. ;)

Feedback can be frusterating! I made the mistake of leaving positive feedback for a seller when my merchandise was delivered on time only to find out that I did not get what I paid for. Now the seller won't work with me to resolve the problem b/c she already has her postivie feedback. I am frusterated. Feedback should be able to be modified.

Bobbi,
That really Stinks! I'd be mad and upset too!
I'm kinda new to Ebay, but are you able to comment on bad feedback??

Mind if I ask you a question?
I've purchased about 5 things on Ebay, I pay promptly, and have never received any kind of feedback from any seller. I still have a big 0 . Is this normal? Do sellers not normally leave feedback?
LIke I said, I'm kinda new so I don't really know how this all works.

Thanks for letting me vent everyone!

Ranatra - many of the major sellers leave "bulk feedback" which means every 30-60 days they will leave feedback for everyone that needs it. Also, many sellers will not leave feedback unless the buyer leaves it for them first. Just different strategies I guess!

Kim,

I just did what you talked about. I had ordered an item and never heard anything. Weeks later I e-mailed the seller and it was then they told me they were back ordered on the item (strange in the first place as I thought eBay was for selling things you already had). Anyway after that the communication was good and I got the item. The seller then asked in e-mail if I would leave postiive feedback and they would do the same for me. I responed in e-mail that I thought I deserved my positive feedback, but didn't think they did. However since I was happy with the outcome I would not leave negative feedback. The seller was happy with that and so was I.

Okay...I "won" some Wishbone videotapes. Paypalled that day. Forgot extra $2 for residential shipping because it wasn't on the paypal list. I have e-mailed 12 times and tried calling 5x's. No response at all. It has been 3 weeks now. Is there anything I can do other than neg. feedback? What I really want are my videotapes! Thanks for any advice possible!
Michelle

Ive been fortunate in that I have never had occassion to leave negative feedback. If it came down to it, I guess I would only leave it in extreme circumstances, I would probably leave no feedback in a "minor" case that might warrant Neg FB, rather than risk having my FB rating trashed by some vengeful idiot.

KimRaye, that's a shame that someone would leave you a negative when you left them a neutral. Some people out there are just idiots.

You know what I did though? After she sent me the "stop harrassing me" email and I explained it, she at least wrote back in a somewhat polite manner that she would not be purchasing it. Because I've had SO many people completely ignore me, I at least left a neutral stating although she did not pay, she attempted communication. She didn't hold up her end of the deal and I'm the one that got the freakin negative. It's such a bunch of BS.

meandtheguys- continue to attempt to work it out. I would say after 30 days if still no response file a complaint against the seller. Then if that doesn't work you can consider feedback. But feedback should only be left after all roads have been exhausted because you don't want to regret it. Also, if that ends up being the case, make sure it's calm and factual and not emotional and personal.

Thanks for the good advice. I have tried to remember that sometimes things go wrong, and that maybe the sellers are dealing with some sort of a crisis. I just panic at possibly losing close to $50! I will give it some more time and continue to try and reach them. I feel bad because I did make a mistake. The rebellious part of me does not want to send the last $2 until I hear something from them!
