Is this really ebay's busiest week of the year? I have 2 auctions with 34 and 15 watchers but very few bids. This stinks.

If you are selling a holiday dress size 7/8 then pm me a link! I would love to help a fellow Diser!

I have over 50 items listed and only 8 have bids (all but 2 the low starting bid). I was expecting/ hoping for a lot more. But I have learned that a lot can change in the last few minutes of an auction so I won't get too disapointed yet. What doesn't sell that seemed to have interest I will relist everything else will go to Goodwill or whatever. Luckily I have made enough to this point to cover all my fees etc.

I agree with waiting until the auction ends to see how you really are doing !! My last few auctions I thought were doing bad until the last 2 minutes, the price went up every few seconds ! I don't know why everyone waits until the last second to bid, It seems risky if it's something you really want !

BTW..... Does anyone know if you will get credit for things that don't sell if you DON'T list it again ? or are you just out your money ??

Unfortunately, you're just out the money. Then, if you do list again, you're charged the fee again; only that fee is reimbursed if you sell the item. You'll always be out your first listing fee. :(

I don't see the problem with waiting to the last minute to bid. Why should I get in a bidding war and bring the price up 2 days before it is over? The best way to get the best deal is to wait till the last minute.

yeah good point, I guess I just never had luck getting what I wanted that way, someone always gets the last bid in quicker than me !
Or.... I forget to bid and miss out !

Thats the one problem I have. I will say I am going to wait till the auction is almost over to bid, but I will forget and think about it the next day.

that what auction snipes are for :)

My last auction I listed 5 identical items only difference being the size. One item didnt sell, i relisted and yet again it didnt sell. Both times it was listed there were 2 watchers. Think I will relist after the holidays.
I do hate being out the money for those two times though.

Guess nothing is a sure thing.

I had 11 items up this past week. 4 sold on their last day, and 2 sold as a buy it now. I had to relist the rest today, but 2 got bids almost immediately. Keep trying, everyone. Don't give up hope. I must admit, I do panic when I keep seeing no bids, especially since I'm a stay at home Mom and really need the money.

I met someone a few months ago at Disney and got talking about ebay and he told me there is a web site that does nothing but snipe auctions. You pay them and they watch the auction and snipe the article. I had been complaining about losing items in the last seconds and not having time to even rebid and he told me about this site. He said it used to be free but now you pay. I have not done this but he did seem to know what he was talking about. Got the impression he was a big seller on ebay too and knew the ropes. I am a newbee. :earsgirl: undefined

There is sniping software too- so you can just buy the software and not pay someone each time you want to snipe.
My one auction closed today- It went for a decent amount I guess. It was DDs old dollhouse and it went for $100 even- I guess I shouldn't complain as the buyer paid quickly and now that's $100 more for WDW next week-- hmmm how should we spend it??

Okay call me dumb, but what is a "snipe" .... I don't get it !

If you go to google and put in something like "auction snipe" or "snipper" you'll find several services that do this for you. A snipper bids in the last few seconds of the auction, giving others no time to react and rebid. I lose all the time to these because I've never bothered. Most services charge a percentage of your final bid or a fixed amount per month or the like.

If you bid on things you really, really want, it's probably a good idea. I kick myself sometimes when I lose to a snipper for not getting on the bandwagon.

I had the WORST week I have had in a long time.. I am a powerseller so I know that I need to wait until the last second to see how it will play out but 39 listed and one sold is terrible!

debating on what to list this week.....

Sniping is when you bid on the auction at the very last moment.

Wow, we had great luck with three auctions closing last night. All three went for way more than I expected, and with the trip coming up next week, I know where all of it will be going!
One item was a Wizard of Oz Polly Pocket set I had tried to return to Target ( for $29.99) a few years back. They wouldn't take it without a receipt, so I kept it in the closet until last week. Closing price: $90!!
Thank you Target!

Wow, $90.00 For The Wizard Of Oz Polly's Good For You.

I Love Auction Snipes. I Use It All The Time. It Cost 25 Cents, But I Put In What I Want To Spend, & It's Basiclly "set It & Forget It" It Bids For Me The Last 5 Seconds.

I Am A Power Seller On Ebay Too, Lot's Of People Use Snipes To Win My Auction Too.

Happy Holidays To All.
