If my family really doesn't eat but 1 time a day then snacks the rest, would the dining plan be a good idea?:confused3

Only you can determine if the DDP makes sense for you and your family. You should look over the plans and look over the menus of where you would eat.

Just my 2 cents but we are big eaters (too big!) and the DDP is too much food for us. You might consider the Quick Service plan but I definitely think the other plans would be a waste of money for you unless you want to eat at 2 credit restaurants for your table service meals.

Same for our family, too much food plus we feel like all we are doing is eating or going to the next ADR. Prior to segmenting we would split stay to use our dining credits during the first part of our vacation. Now with segmenting, the cost savings is easier to realize and we can eat at our favorite Disney restaurants and really indulge. :thumbsup2

Honestly for this to make ANY sense you MUST eat ALL the food on the plan. That's one snack, one quick service (meal and desert) and one sit down a day.

I can't ever see it making sense for me, but.. YMMV

We did it one time and said never again. And that was when it was cheaper, included the appetizer and tip. With a DVC villa, we have the full kitchen at our disposal to use as we like. And the refrigerator usually has stuff in it that we brought.

In a word, no.

There are tons of threads on here on the topic weighing the pros and cons and it is ultimately a decision that you'll have to make after reviewing all of the info, but it's tough for me to imagine a scenario where any of the dining plans would work out better for you, because all of the plans compel you to eat a certain way to be worthwhile -- and none of them fit the eating style you're describing.

As noted, not likely. However, there are still situations where it might make sense for you. That would include shorter trips (or segments) and when there are a predominance of kids in the 3-9 age group.
