Eating Vegan and Vegetarian in Disney

I have not visited Disney since my recent transition into eating a vegan diet, and even while visiting as a vegetarian, we did not eat most of our meals in the parks so it wasn't a concern.

However, I am hoping to be in Disney World for the College Program from January through May, so I anticipate eating a handful of times in the parks. Can anyone recommend any restaurants that have vegan menu items or at least are accommodating to vegans and will have options for me? Or at least places that have vegetarian options (and not just plain spaghetti or a house salad)?

Thanks!

You can check allears.com for full menus , but I'm fairly sure the restaurants in Morocco in EPCOT have vegan options available.

Every sit down place has a vegetarian option and a large number of these can be made vegan if they aren't already. We have travelled with vegan friends and for quick service we do Columbia Harbor House in MK (hummus and veggie sandwich minus broccoli slaw (traces of egg), veggie chili, and salads that can be made without meat and cheese. In Epcot we do Sunshine Seasons (Asian tofu noodle bowl or salad with beets) or Morroco quick serve has a veggie platter. For DHS Backlot express has a grilled veggie sandwich and a southwest salad that can both be made without cheese. AK I think the only thing was a veggie burger at restaurantosaurus. In Downtown Disney they had lots of options especially now with Baby Cakes (vegan baked goods), fresh a peel and earl of sandwich both have sandwiches and salads that are easily adaptable and Wolfgang Puck express has a veggie sandwich and a veggie pasta dish. They do carry little packs of nuts with them for a protein boost when eating a number of days of quick service food but otherwise felt like they had decent options.

When you make your ADR (or when you are seated at your table) you can note that someone in the party has a special diet. Most times the chef will visit your table to find out exactly what your dietary restrictions are and they will suggest the meals on the menu that would be best for you. If you don't see anything on the menu, you can let them know what it is you do like and they will make you a fabulous meal.

My last two girls trips to Disney were with my BFF. She is vegan by choice, but also wheat and gluten free for health reasons. I could not believe how accomondating the restaurants were to her diet.

She actually had her best meal at Le Cellier, if all places!!! :cool1:

If family will be visiting and wants to splurge, here is probably the best Vegetarian meal on property.

I always click on a link after I post, and it seemed OK. Also, I clicked on the link in the quote box and it took me the where I expected.

I'm a vegan, too!

Some great vegan things to try are:
pot pie at Liberty Tree Tavern
pomegranate bbq tofu at Grand Floridian Cafe (just ask)
spicy Tuscan veggie pasta at Wolfgang Puck Cafe
bean and veggie tacos at San Angel Inn

**most cs places also have vegan cheese, ice cream and soy milk, too

Have fun planning your trip! :thumbsup2

One of the top 5 meals of our time together (11 years so far, and all of it has been as vegetarians since we were both veggie before we met) was at a steakhouse. :)
