When I see people eating salad, I wonder how they can get fill on it. According to a ready-made salad package I picked up in the supermarket, it looks like there is some nutiential value there but doesn't the salad dressing add a lot of fat, etc?

The fat from the salad dresseing is essential to my nutritional plan. I get very full eating a salad :)

I absolutely have to have cheese and creamy dressing to feel full on a salad. A little ham or turkey helps too.:D

a little salad greens, some lofat feta cheese and lofat Kraft Free Ranch -yum yum

I love salads, but I put a lot of stuff in my salads. Meat, Veggies, cheese, dressing etc.

When I make a big salad to bring to work for lunch, I put lots of stuff in it! For protein, I add red kidney beans or cannellini beans (usually about half a cup). These beans can really fill you up! I usually dice a zucchini and a yellow squash, plus add lots of grape tomatos. If I have carrots, I will shred some into the salad. Sometimes I throw in leftover vegiies from the night before - steamed broccoli, asparagus, even brussel sprouts! I buy a variety of salad greens - baby spinach, romaine, a package of spring mix with baby lettuces. This all adds up to a very hearty salad. I usually bring a low fat salad dressing or a bit of the balsamic vinagrette that I make myself. I carry the dressing in a tiny rubbermaid container, so that it is not sogging up the salad all morning long.

My DH's cousin's wife make the best salad, and it only has veggies. It had green leaf lettuce (NOT iceburg), diced tomatoes, celery, bits of green pepper, chopped parsley, diced cucumber...I think that's it for the veggies. She then seasons it w/ salt, pepper, mint, and lemon juice. I know it might sound a little weird but it is awesome!

I think it would be very hard for me to eat a salad without any kind of dressing on it, though I'm usually happy with anything from a light vinagrette to some yummy blue cheese dressing :) Also, if I'm having the salad as a meal, it MUST have some kind of meat on it, like turkey or chicken, or I'm going to be hungry in no time at all!
