Eating on our verandah

DH, DS 5 and I had so much fun on our Wonder cruise last year and are eagerly awaiting our Magic sail date. Sitting on the verandah (#7562) was incredible but we did not have a chance to eat out there, something we regret.

Topsiders for breakfast was fine but we would like to eat on the verandah. In reviewing the room service menu for breakast , its not as complete as the offerings at Topsiders. So, here is my question. . . . . .

Does anyone ever go to Topsiders and fill up a plate and then take it back to the room? Please be honest.

I have. I'm always the first one up so I've run upstairs and brought a plate to the room. It helps to be aft, either use the stairs or aft elevator and you are right there.

I also had real good luck with the room service breakfast with toasted bagels still hot, etc, hotter than the ones under the hot light on the buffet. You could order room service and run upstairs for the hot food not available on the menu, eggs, sausage and bacon etc. At least I couldn't put enough on one Topsiders plate to feed my whole family, plus juices, coffee and milk.

I did it this past May on the Wonder. There was one morning when I was doing laundry and wanted to stay closer to the room. I just went up, grabbed a tray and brought it down to the room. Very simple and it was fun sitting and eating breakfast on our private veranda. I would definately do it again!

Thanks for the responses. We will probably do as lespaul55 suggests and supplement bagels and cereal with some hot food.

Do you know if room service is willing to clean up the extra dishes and return the tray (maybe we should return the tray )

We ABSOLUTELY bring breakfast down to our verandah!! One of the greatest pleasures of cruising is eating outside if you have a verandah stateroom. It such a pleasant way to kick off the day. And when we're in 5650, it's VERY convenient because we can run up to Topsiders via the "secret" aft staircase (same goes for aft area staterooms on decks 6, 7, and 8).

I had read about that staircase on your site and we used it a lot on our May cruise as we were in a Navigators veranda on Deck 7. So convenient!

We took breakfast to our room from topsiders a few times, I would run up and bring down 2 trays of food....we usually just left the trays on the little table in our room, we came back later and they would be all gone...wish it worked that way at home!!!!I did notice the people next door doing the same thing but they would leave the trays outside their door when done, which I wasn't crazy about because my daughter(2) tripped on it twice when leaving the room and it jut looked ugly out there in the hallway...

Thanks for all of the good ideas. We are cruising March 2003 with our DS(6) and DS(11.5 mths) and we specifically got a verandah so that when one of us needs to take our little guy back for naps or he sleeps in late from a big day of playing that we would have somewhere to sit. Glad to know too that if we get the munchies we can either order something or bring something from up on deck back to the room.
