Eating in NYC - **Updated & THANKS

I think Madame Tussauds is worth it, once. It's not just stars, they also have government officials & important people in history. You can also have your hand made into wax. Although DD7 may be a little young still to really enjoy it. You can usually pretty easily find printable coupons online if you search. What about the American Girl Store instead?? It's over on 5th ave... easily walkable from times square.

Thanks. I'll look for coupons.

As for American Girl, thankfully, DD is not into dolls. Barbies & Polly Pockets, yes, dolls no. And I'm kinda thankful cause those American Girls are pricey!

Nothing wrong with Cosi....it's good and fast, but it's also a national chain. We can eat Cosi in Columbus, Ohio these days. As one PP said--- don't eat chain food in NYC (unless it is an NYC exclusive chain).

We love Carmine's in Times Square. I find Serendipity 3 overpriced.

When were in the city, we often just pick up a slice in any pizzeria we see and then, of course, street food can't be beat!

You have to eat at Cosi's and Serendipity 3! and I believe Serendipity 3 is kinda by Dylan's Candy Bar

I've been to Madame Toussouds twice. The first time I think my oldest dd was 5 and she loved it. In April I just went again with dd5 (almost 6) and dd9 (almost 10). They both loved looking at all the figures especially ones they knew. They also liked the scream theater and 3d show with Spongebob. I think a 7 year old would love it.

We have family nearby so don't eat that many meals in the touristy areas but my girls loved the singing at Ellen's Stardust.

!

We love Carmines! I find it to be one of the cheaper places to eat in the city! We can buy one dish for 25.00 and it feeds 3 of us! We usually go to Max Brenners (Chocolate by the bald man) for dessert when we are near there!
We like Madame Tussauds- have been there the past 2 years...the Titanic exhibit was around the corner from there so we went after going there (its gone now) and now the King Tut exhibit is there so after seeing King tut we popped into Madame Tussauds again this year.

King Tut exhibit is very interesting, so eerie viewing all those artifacts from many years ago.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone on the great suggestions!

We had a great time Thursday in the Central Park area. Ate lunch at Mickey Mantle's, in Mickey's booth, and the food was very good. DH liked looking at all the memerobilia. We did end up going to Dylan's candy bar. Cute place. No candy bought, but did get DD the cutest pair of rain boots! Yellow with candy pieces pictured on them.

Friday we took PATH from NJ over to 33rd street and then hoofed it all over the city. Ate lunch at Stardust Diner and what a GREAT place. DD LOVED it. I totally expect her to work there someday since she says she's going to be on Broadway like Ariel one day (we saw Little Mermaid last year in NYC). Had fun at Madame Toussad's too. Got lucky and it ended up being AAA member day today so we got 25% off each ticket!!!! :cool1:.

All in all, a GREAT trip and GORGEOUS weather. Thanks again for everyone's help!
