I went to FW in 1978 and can only remember the hammocks. If I am staying off site how can I go and eat at the buffet they offer and see the movie which I am told is open to all?
Park in the BIG lot that use to be the lot for River Country parking. Take yellow, orange or purple bus to Pioneer Hall for the buffet and have a nice walk to the Campfire Sing-A-Long for the movie and to walk off some of those calories.
The busses will be labeled Settlement Depot. Pick them up at the Outpost Depot towards the Check in station - it will be a large open air roofed structure. Upon your return, pick up any color bus labelled Outpost .
I need to resurrect this thread. We are staying at FW in Dec and we have tickets to Hoop Dee Doo. We are trying to get Loop 200, which is pretty far from the show. Can we drive through the Fort and park at the big parking lot indicated on the FW map or is that parking only for carts?
There are only a few spaces around the Meadow Trading Post in the middle of the campgrounds. Other than than the only place to park is at the front where it is marked for Hoop-Dee-Doo Revue and Day Visitors.
The only parking lot you can park at is the one out front, which is further from the HDDR than any campsite, so you would do better to park at your site and walk/bike/cart/bus to the HDDR.

There is no lot for cars anywhere near Pioneer hall. The only parking inside FW is temporary parking (15 mins?) at the Meadows Trading Post.
However the parking lot people are talking about for people coming into FW to see the HDD is actually all the way out by the Outpost where you first come into FW. You really won't want to drive all the way out there to park, just to take the bus all the way back in. The 200 loop isn't actually all that far from the Hoop Dee Doo - maybe a 5-10 minute walk tops, depending on your pace.
Driving in FW is discouraged except to leave and enter the resort. There is no 'internal' parking except at your site and 15 minute parking at the Meadows Trading Post.
