I guess remembering this far back makes me a WDW relic or something...it was called the Character Cafe...it is in the location that Chef Mickeys now occupies (this was WAY back, when Chef Mickeys was over at DTD where the Rainforrest Cafe now stands, at least I think that's where it was)...the character cafe was a buffet and all the servers wore old collegiate letter sweaters. There were 2 tiered dining areas and 1 had an incredible view over the lake.
I even remember one of the servers named George...my DD's were just tiny tots back then and they LOVED him....because they were afraid of the characters, but he would take their autograph books and get the characters to sign them from afar...and he even signed their autograph books and he could write backwards...it is funny what I remember about those first trips...but it was a CM that went above and beyond that made the trip special...my DD (now getting ready for college) still has that autograph book and her faorite thing in it is George's backwards writing!!
BTW, I remember the swiss steak...it was smothered in some great sauce!!
Sadly the Cafe, George and the Swiss steak are no more at the CR!!
