We are getting ready for our trip and need some advise on where to eat at MGM. Last time we were there we tried SciFi Diner (Yummy), Mom's Diner (ok but don't want to repeat), and ABC commissary (NASTY! :sad2: WILL NEVER DO AGAIN!). What does everyone suggest?

Thanks!

I really like Mama Melroses. I just booked it for November for the FDP. I have had lunch and dinner there and it has always been good.

I agree, ABC is nasty. If we do CS we do the food stands by TOT (if the lines are short, since all four of us usually want something different) or if we are on ther other side of the park we do Backlot. I don't think I've ever had a good meal at ABC.

I was told that CS in MGM is iffy at best. We ate lunch at Backlot Express right when it opened at 11:30am, it was very good. We stuck to the basics, burgers and chicken strips but they were hot and fresh. The chocolate bundt cake was the best CS chocolate cake we had all week (and we had lots of chocolate cake) the strawberries and pudding dessert was ok too. The beer was cold - what more do you want?

Dinner at Mama Melroses was good too. NOt out of the world great, but very good. We had the Fantasmic package, which gets you a family bowl of salad, a flatbread to share (you get to choose which one) and then any entree off the menu. We also got to pick any dessert off the menu. Kids share the salad and flatbread, and choose their entrees and desserts off the kids menu. The entree was the weakest link of the meal for me, it may have been what I chose. I had the osso buco, which was basically veal pot roast (ehh..) with a great risotto. I highly recommend the chocolate cake for dessert! We left stuffed and happy.

Hollywood & vine has a new character buffet that is a Fantasmic Dinner Package. Mama Mel Rose and Hollywood Brown Derby are also FDP. This saves you at least 2 hrs in line waiting. The 50's prime time cafe is good for 1950's type food and atmosphere.
