Eating at DLP

Hi all,
I'm new to the boards and hoping that you guys can help me out. We (hubby, 2yr old daughter and myself) are going to Disneyland on 28th this month for 3 nights travelling by car.

I've bought the HB standard vouchers but now I need some help. One night we're using them as part payment for Inventions (to celebrate our anniversary, but daughter coming with us). When I phoned to book I was told Inventions is closed for refurbishment but the buffet is available in California Grill. For those that have had the buffet or eaten in California Grill will it still be worth the extra money? All love seafood so the buffet with characters as well would be ideal for us.

For the first day I was thinking of eating at Plaza Gardens after the parade and before closing but apparently that is closed for refurbishment as well (until end February). Does anyone have any recommendations where we can use the HB vouchers to do the same thing?

Am hoping that not much will be closed in Fantasyland ridewise as we are mainly going to give the little one a wonderful first taste of Disney. If you know of any of the rides that are closed or any other recommendations please let me know.

We are HB at the same time, wanted to go to Plaza gardens as well.

We will be using the HB in Santa Fe first night when we check in, and at Annettes Diner and then having the Buffet at Agrabah on the last day before we leave.

I'm sure some lovely members here will be along soon to give you some more ideas on where you can use your HBstandard vouchers in the park, as the Plaza Gardens is closed when you are there. I haven't made it to the California Grill yet, but it does get very good reviews .

California Grill gets consistently rave reviews and it is considered one of the prime dining restaurants at DLP.

Perhaps with Inventions being closed CG may have the characters there. It is worth asking this again of Disney.

sorry i cant help with the restaraunts but there arent any rides closed during your trip. hth

Did you choose PG specifically for the buffet option, if you did then you're restricted to the Agrabah Cafe at that time of the day inside the park - (if it's open), standard HB vouchers will cover the full cost.
or there is a buffet in the village at Billy Bob's you will have to use the vouchers at Face Value and pay the extra though.

Thanks for the welcome and replies. Will look into Agrabah, it sounds good.
As to regards eating at PG we thought that this would be a good option to stay in the park between the parada and candlabration. It doesn't have to be buffet.
Would it be easy/possible to leave the park after viewing the parade, eat and be back in time for candlabration?

DH phoned up today after reading this as we want to eat there when we go. He was told is would be open by then (we go 15th feb)

It might be worth phoning just to confirm if its before the date I mentioned
