We saw the 2nd and 3rd show of Dennis DeYoung last night (he and the band were awesome). We did not wait in the normal "stand by" queue they direct you to, it is at the far end of the sitting area and stretches pretty far back. Rather, we loitered by one of central aisles with a few other people. They let in the formal stand by queue first and they all scatter to the front rows. After the theater is about 1/3 to 1/2 full, they open all the other aisles. We got great seats for both shows in the second section, which is plenty near enough to see everything. I don't honestly know if they waited for the stand by line to empty out. Watching the cast members, opening the center aisles seemed to be a timing event (they both were constantly checking their watches) and not based on any other factors. Depending on the popularity of the show, this may or may not work. I will say, it sure worked for us, we had a fantastic time yesterday.
Also, they do totally empty the theater between shows and speaking only for last night's show, each show had different songs. Not surprising for Dennis DeYoung, he has a huge playlist to choose from and being that each show is only 30 minutes, he easily made them different.
We plan on seeing 10,000 Maniacs next week and possibly Big Bad Voodoo Daddy in November. You couldn't pay me to see Hanson. Tiffany remains a possibility if time permits.
Crowds last night were manageable, far less than the Columbus day mob.
