easyup anchor?

We will be on a prefered site, so this means no sand (hate sand, thus my preferance for the all paved site) so I was wondering what I could use to anchor down my 10x10 easyup canopy?

I was thinking about 4 (one on each corner) 5lb barbell weight, just slide it throught the hole and rest it on the little tabs on the bottom of the legs.........

what do you guys use to anchor when theres no soft earth to steak them down?

5lbs definately not enough.

But, the easiest & chepest thing to do, if you have a source, is using 4 of those 5 gallon plastic buckets of the type used for floor wax, cleaning chemicals, etc. Just fill with water, put on the lid, and tie off to it. They weight about 45 pounds each full.

I was going to suggest filling empty jugs (like the large laundry detergent jugs) with water and tying it down to those. I've seen "anchors" you fill with sand at Walmart and camping stores. Here's what Walmart has: http://www.walmart.com/ip/King-Canopy-s-Weight-Bags-for-Instant-Legs/14649570

Depending on where the easy up is located ... hopefully at the rear of the site you could run lines to stakes in the soil on at least 3 poles and the fourth might be across the site but is still I would think an option.

The 5 gal buckets full of water if you use two at each corner only provides like 320 lbs of hold down force (8 buckets x 5 gal x 8.8lbs/gal of water) and that isn't much when it's spread over four supports.

Alternatively you could put the easy up at the back corner and stake three of the supports to the ground with rope and stacks and use the 5 gal buckets to hold down the fourth pole that is on the interior of the hard surface. You could also anchor that fourth pole with a rope to the back of your RV bumper, etc.

Finally if you are putting your picnic table under the easy up just use that with ropes to anchor the easy up. Might be interesting using the table with all the ropes, but HEY YOU'RE at least at FW.

Preferred sites have the sand pad, premium are the ones that do not. You should be ok to anchor your canopy.

We travel as a vendor using two 10 x 10 canopies all the time. When we camp we take one with us. We made weights using PVC pipe filled with cement and an eye bolt sunk in each. You can cut the pipe to a good size for you. Attach to each leg by a bungee or rope. Ours weigh about 35 lbs. each, but you can make them 10-15 lbs.
