Easy to transport ECV?

My dad needs either a wheelchair or an ECV for our September trip. Ideally we would like something easy to get on and off of Disney transportation with since he can stand and walk for short distances. Are there scooters that are easy to fold or breakdown to get on a bus? A scooter would be easier for me since a wheelchair will require me to push him. Thanks!

You should consider a rollator. They fold up and are easy to store. If he can stand and walk short distances he will be able to rest whenever he wants to with a built in seat! This is what I use instead of making my husband push me in a manual wheelchair and I'm just not comfortable with the ECV

There are some specialized ECVs that are small enough to fold and lift onto a bus, but they are rare and, as far as I know, not available from the scooter rental vendors near WDW. The portable ECVs that break apart to put into vehicles are too cumbersome when in pieces for Disney buses.

Your best bet with an ECV is to load on the bus through the ramp at the back and not dismantle the ECV. Loading isn't that difficult, the bus drivers load ECVs all day, every day. They know what they're doing and are very helpful.
The monorail and accessible boats are even easier than the buses.

The scooter rental vendors can help you choose the appropriate scooter for your needs. You could call a couple, like Walker and Buena Vista and talk to them. Have a nice trip!

The scooters that you can rent from off-site companies will drive right onto the bus - you don't have to disassemble them. If he isn't comfortable driving it onto the bus, you could do it for him or the bus driver will help - it's really not too difficult once you get the hang of it!
