Easy to cancel reservation for one?

We are not sure if it's going to be 6 or 7 of us but our ADR window is opening soon. If we reserve for 7 including the ones requires pre-payment like Cindy's place, and ended up only 6 of us are going, how easy to cancel only one person's reservation? Will they let us?

They won't let you just drop someone from your reservation. They will have to cancel your reservation and rebook for a party of 6. If it's available.

So if we drop the reservation for 7 and try to reserve for 6, how likely will it be to have the table? I assume the reservation for 7 will go back to open and can't the CM just grab that for 6?

What would be the best way to handle the ADRs in this situation?
