Easy Renting?

My husband and I are about to purchase 210 points at the Beach Club - With the offer from DVC we will have 2002 points plus 2003 points available to us totaling (420)

Unfortunately we will not be using points for 2003 and my understanding is that we have to use 2002 points by our use year (either way this will be 2003?)

In summary

If we close in May we will get (october (UY) 2002 points 210) Plus (2003 points 210) I believe our use year will be October? So we have until October 2003 to use 210 points - "WE WON'T"

How easy will it be to rent these points? We are actually renting points from a DVCer ourselves for a trip in Dec. (this is not changing)

I am very very very confused about the banking, "hold" status parts of DVC once we join is there a more detailed info packet?

We don't anticipate renting points annually but we do anticipate banking for a big family trip! Also, can you rent multiple units for the same time of year? for example 2 studios over Feb. vacation?

As long as you have the points you can rent as many rooms as you need. There are NO restrictions. If you do not intend to use any points in 2003, your October 2002 points will expire useless at the end of September 2003 if you bank them and at the end of September 2002 if you don't. If you determine that you are not going to do Disney until after September 2003 or use any of the exchange programs to use your 2002 points, you should consider renting them. As you can see from this Board, renting can be a smooth and painless operation. I would suggest transferring the points to another DVC member to further uncomplicate the transaction instead of making individual reservations.

We too are awaiting closing at BCV. I didn't think we had the option of keeping the 2002 points, but "sold" them back to DVC to lower the overall cost/pt to $74. Might want to check and see if that is still an option for you before you sign..

If I understand your question...your Oct 2002 points will expire Sept 30 2003. However, often your guide can request that they be banked to the next use year at closing, giving you until September 2004 to use them or lose them. Or, if Magical Beginnings is still being offered, you can sell the 2002 allotment of points back to Disney, and they will reduce your purchase price by $10 per point.

If your looking to rent them INSTEAD of magical beginnings, $10 seems to be the average going rate, and it would certainly be much simpler to just get the $10 per point from Disney.
