The Cast: me, DH 41, DS12 and DS 7&7; first cruise for all of us!
Another beautiful morning at sea; we ate breakfast at Topsiders and spent the morning with the twins between the Goofy and Mickey pools. At least, since no other memory jumps out, that must be what we were doing!
This was our SPA DAY! Dropped the twins at the Club and hurried to our couples massage. We were late and I was feeling pretty stressed, but that's good, because I wanted to make the most of my massage!
We each went with the spa taster, which is a full back massage and a facial. This was DH's first time, and I knew he would love it (I'm pretty sure he fell asleep at one point!).
We had two lovely young ladies (I believe from South Africa and Great Britain). DH's observation: "Very very very relaxing, even though I was buck naked and had a strange woman's hands all over me!" He regrets not booking a second massage!
TIP: I took the DISboard advice and wrote "no sales pitch please" at the bottom of the form they have you sign before the massage. This was helpful to me as sales pitches stress me out. The masseuse would mention the types of products (in general; not the brands) she was using as she went along, but this felt instructional, not uncomfortable.
We also added on the Rainforest Room for the day. I had to run back up and get my bathing suit for this (required). It was very relaxing: a low lit tile room with heated tile lounge chairs, 2 scented steam rooms and a sauna. I believe there were also 2 showers in there. DH quickly fell asleep on a lounge. I loved the lounges too, but wished I had thought to bring a magazine.
Observation: pre-cruise I thought I'd get the week pass to the Rainforest. I'm glad I didn't, as I had far less free time than I thought I would have on the cruise!
Later that afternoon DH and I went up to a gathering at the Cat 3 room of our DIS friends, Hannosmom and ChiChiHoney. The Cat 3 has a large living room area with a separate bedroom and spacious bath (boy, was I jealous!). We had champagne, a large selection of delicious cheeses and chocolate desserts, and chocolate covered strawberries. It was a great party, and lots of fun checking in to see how everyone was enjoying their cruise. It was also good for our spouses to get to meet all our DISfriends - we all joked about the risks of making friends via the internet, and tried to guess which among us might be an axe murderer.
Tonight was dinner at Animator's Palate. The Navigator said Formal dress, but this was a misprint. I was really looking forward to this restaurant, and loved the whole theme. I can't remember what I had, I'm sure cheesecake was involved. I took pictures of some of the menus, so perhaps later I'll go back and try to reconstruct my cruise-by-meal. mmmm.
After dinner, time for Hercules the Muse-ical. Very funny, a fine musical production. True Disney quality; both the kids and adults enjoyed it.
TIP: Before the cruise, we let the boys know they were expected to eat dinner and see the show with us every night (this was especially meant for our 12 year old, who was given alot of freedom and free time on the ship). It worked perfectly for us; no arguments about our evening schedule, no requests to skip dinner and just snack at Pinocchio's! Nice family time.
I don't recall any activities for us after the show, except maybe a little pin trading. Our days were full, and the twins (and us!) were pretty tired come nightfall!
Once again, it's the end of another day, and I haven't played bingo, had a Drink of the Day, or ordered room service!!! I'd better re-check my hour-by-hour schedule I had drafted before my cruise. [for an example of the schedule I created for myself, see the cruise matrix at www.hannomax.com]
