Eastern Caribbean Fantasy Oct. 5, 2013

@akf and Mrs S:
I thoroughly checked the website of the US Customs service and they explicitly state that cheese is an admissible item as long as it doesn't contain any meat and is at least as solid as Camenbert. Only liquid cheese is prohibited.
To be on the safe side i made a PDF of that page and stored it on my iPad. Additionally I'll pack a print-out of that page with the cheese and have another one in my travel documents.
I did that after a coworker reported that he had some cheese impounded upon arrival in Denver. But after my last US-trip, when some TSA-people were to stupid to open a TSA-approved lock and busted a $500 suitcase, I'm no longer sure that the officials over there really know their rules and procedures.
It would be a bummer to have $54 worth of cheese thrown away.

Good call Viking.... TSA agents are unfortunately, undermanned, undertrained, underpaid and some are lacking the ability to care and it is hard to argue with them because they hold your travel fate in their hands...... Best to have the facts in hand as you and every other experienced traveler knows.

On a side note.... 9 DAYS LEFT!!!!!:hyper: I feel like I might explode from being excited!!!

I hope to see you all at the meet and greet!!!! :cool1:

Hi Everyone

My apologies for being off the air - we are now stateside (in Washington DC) and have been touring around for a couple of weeks.

As per my last update, the tour is booked.

This is the confirmation from Bernard:

Thank you for choosing Bernard's Tours Your reservation is {CONFIRMED } for our {PRIVATE CUSTOMIZED TOUR } we will be meeting you at {9:00 AM } RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE YELLOW BUILDING} at the {INFORMATION CENTER } next to the CLAUDE WATHEY STATUE{PLEASE WALK UP TO THE {INFORMATION CENTER} { ONCE AT THE INFORMATION CENTER PLEASE ASK FOR {BERNARD} We are located about { IT IS A THREE MINUTES WALK ON THE PIER FROM THE SHIP TO THE INFORMATION CENTER}

{PRIVATE CUSTOMIZED TOUR $35.00 PER PERSON) {DEPOSIT $50.00 ALREADY PAID }

{BALANCE DUE UPON ARRIVAL } We accept payment by Cash Master Card, American Express, Visa and Discovery Credit Card..

I have told him about our numbers

up to 41 people going to Orient, Maho and then Marigot
up to 15 people going to Gailon, Maho then back to port.

I have also told him that some people will want to swap at Maho and go back to port rather than go to Marigot.

I am waiting to hear back from him regarding how much cash we will need on the day to cover beach admissions and chair rentals etc, as well as currency required.

As we need to meet at the statue at the information centre at 9am, may I suggest we meet from 8am at a lounge (as I have not been on the Fantasy before, I have no preference of a good place - suggestions needed) with a view of walking off the ship at 8:30? Not sure what time we are due to dock however....

If people miss the lounge meetup, as long as they meet at the statue by say 8:50, I think that would be ok.

I will have a list of people (by their disname), which I will check off to ensure we don't miss anyone.

Any other points/suggestions - all welcome!

Thanks

Welcome back to the conversation....We missed you.
I hope you are enjoying your vacation thus far :goodvibes

I was actually going to post something very similar today. I was going to suggest meeting for breakfast. But a lounge would be fine as well.
According to a post made yesterday (I think...maybe the day before), we are scheduled to disembark at 8 AM.

If we don't meet for breakfast, what about the Vista Cafe on Deck 4 across the way from Shutters. There is a nice seating area there.

Also, during your absence, I was putting together a phone tree in case we needed to get a message out to the whole group.
Viking has a large part of the group dining with him, so he offered to share any info needed to pass along with his table. As for everyone else, I am only missing one other cabin number.
I would be happy to bring the list for you.

I am getting soooooo excited. We will be on our way to Florida in exactly 1 week. :cool1:

Tink

I will be on this cruise and am looking to meet up with a nice lady. I am a 34, 6'3" white male with brown hair brown eyes.

Pm me if you wanna chat!!

Welcome to the group clozzzer
:welcome::welcome::welcome::welcome:
I have joyfully welcomed every one of our members for the last year and a half, and I am sorry to say that none of them have been single ladies that I am aware of. However, that does not mean that we have not had silent participants reading the posts, quietly with out jumping into the conversation.

Maybe there is a little bit of pixiedust pixiedust: some where in the mix for you.

We would like to invite you to be part of the group either way though. I will send you an invite to our group page shortly. If you are interested in joining in the fun, you are more than welcome.

Tink

Viking,
In case I don't get a chance to post later (next little while is going to be very hectic around here), have a save flight.

We will see you soon::yes::

Tink

P.S. what is your favorite color?

Tink,
my favourite colours are blue and orange. Thanks for the good wishes, we are so ready to fly over and start our vacation. Anja had her last day today and I intend to leave the office at 12 sharp tomorrow.

Lea,
thanks for setting up that tour. I'm especially looking forward to Crazy Plane Beach - I guess we'll have a blast (pun intended :p)

Waether.com is now showing a forecast for 10/5:
It's supposed to 84°F/29°C and partly cloudy (no chance for meatballs :joker:), 10% rain chance and a light breeze.

Se we'll probably be able to drive all 200miles from Amelia Island with the top down :drive:

But as stated earlier: A 10day forecast is not exactly reliable and may change considerably. Nevertheless I like what they are predicting :thumbsup2

Viking,

As you head down from Amelia Island to WDW plan a little extra time travel time. One of the transport ships damaged one of the bridges in Jacksonville, so all the traffic is having to be rerouted. They don't know how extensive the damage is so at this time they don't know how long the bridge will be out.

Be safe and see you on the ship!

Thanks for the info. We're not driving to WDW, but I guess this will also affect southbound traffic to Port Canaveral. We intend to drive to the St. Augustine Outlets on Monday and either to St John's Town Center or The Avenues on Wednesday. Perhaps we'll get an impression of the impact of the damaged bridge during those trips.
If push comes to shove we'll skip breakfast on Saturday and start very early to drive on empty roads. I guess there will be more than enough food in the following week :laughing:

The useful info obtainable here is really great :wave2:

We finished packing. Both suitcases come in at 48lbs each. As this includes 4lbs of Schnaps, 4lbs of cheese, 3lbs of chocolate, 10lbs of gifts and 10lbs of magazines, we'll have about 40lbs capacity for shopping on the flight home.
I left the cheese in its triple wrapping, put it in a collapsible cooler, and then stuffed it into the waterproof bag we bought for the snorkel trip on St T. As it's 12 year old Gouda it doesn't smell anyway.
Nevertheless I listed it on our customs declaration to avoid trouble if it's found ;)
As a frequent traveler I always have a few customs forms at home. I prefer to fill them out at home instead of doing it during the flight.

:welcome::welcome::welcome::welcome:
It looks as if you may already be acquainted with some of the members of our group (the Cruisetoberfest group).
So, hopefully, they have given you a heads up about some of the on goings already.
To help get you up to speed, I am going to send you an invite to our group page. This is where you will get signed up for the group party on embarkation day, and get caught up on all of our activities.

I look forward to getting to know you.

Tink

Thanks. I'll check it out when I get home. Difficult to read much on the phone!

Hi! Everyone. I know I am really late coming to this discussion but wanted to go ahead and say hello. I don't really think I have tome to work much on fish extenders this week, but maybe I can do that on our next cruise. I would however like to more information on the planned activities on board. I can hardly wait for next Saturday. This will be our second Disney cruise but the first 7 day we have done. We did a 3 day Bahamas last year. We will be celebrating our 10 year anniversary this year and wanted to have a longer cruise. We loved the Disney cruise and my husband said he would not really want to go with any other company. I am so excited for our daughter to actually be able to play in the Oceaneers Club this time. She didn't have a lot of time last time.
Anyway can't wait to meet some of y'all!

Thanks. If everything goes according to plan we'll arrive at our hotel around 830pm local time. We have WiFi there and after having unpacked we'll check the Boards. :wave2:

Have a safe trip and we will all see ya'll soon.
