Hi there.
We'll also be joining this cruise. It will be our sixth DCL cruise, the first five were on the Magic. We'll celebrate our 20th anniversary and my 50th birthday.
Our second cruise (Eastern Carribbean) in 2001 started on 9/22/01 and was named Cruisetoberfest because that was the day Oktoberfest in Munich opened its gates. It was then followed by Cruisetoberfests II, III and IV in 2003 (Western), 2004 (Antigua) and 2006 (CC Double Dip).
We were up to 200 DISers on those cruises, three families already confirmed that they'll be booking soon and I'm in the process of digging up the addresses of all and so I hope we'll be joined by several more families from our former cruises.
Here's a list of things we did before, during and after our cruises:
-We maintained a list of all people. First names only and aliases.
-We created a mail-account on Yahoo for its distribution and as a point of access for everyone.
-On later cruises we also had a Kids List to give the kids an opportunity to hook up with their new friends even before the crusie
-The list was sent to everyone whenever someone new signed up to keep everyone up do date
-We had meets at WDW or other locations before and after the cruises
-The group booked shore excursions together without going through DCL as this gave us better prices and exclusive use: i.e. a couple of dives on St. Thomas, a boat trip on Antigua, a snorkel trip on Grand Cayman, dive trips in Cozumel, a Scavenger Hunt on Key West, etc.
-A group photo on the ship by the official DCL photographer
-We had t-shirts, hats, bags, etc printed
-For the sail away party everyone brought typical gifts from his/her state or country, i.e. Buckeyes from Ohio, schnaps from Germany or other small inexpensive things
-Some of us coordinated their seating and so we already knew our tablemates - at least virtually ;)
-We negotiated group rebates with hotels at MCO or in Port Canaveral for the night before the cruise and partied there.
-We also shared transportation to/from the port

We're looking forward to meet Y'all on the ship :yay:

Hello Viking and everyone else who has booked this cruise!

I am SOO excited to announce that my dad, OKWmeister received an email from Viking today telling us about this cruise date he had booked (and thanks again for the great world cup jerseys). We set sail with him on the Cruisetoberfest and had a blast. So after about an hour long discussion with my boyfriend, we decided to BOOK!!!!:rotfl: :cool1:

We are officially going to be on the Fantasy on October 5th 2013! It will be his 2nd Disney cruise and my 7th!
 :woohoo:

So excited! Can't stop once you've caught the fever!

I like IAGO by the way! Very clever and relevant to those of us going overboard in our planning :surfweb: already AND that we will be on a ship - hopefully none of us overboard, however!

I would also like to be added to the FE list please!!

woohoo! :cool1:

CorEeyore, you are officially on the list:cool1:
Now, Watch for a special PM :sail:
Oh, and thanks for the vote.
You need to check out the cool IAGO pictures I have on the group page.:artist:

I like Iago, too! (Technically, we have 5 votes, but that feels like cheating, since I'm not going to ask any of the others-- they will not care or understand what I am asking them.)

Good to see you again!! And I still have my illuminated Vikings-hat and the Vikings-Jersey from MN!!! This year we're having the Euro Cup, but I guess those shirts may be outdated when next year's cruise takes place ;)
I'm glad to see that at least some people got my mails - I had dozens of them bounce back on me :scared:
So next weekend I really have to dig up some old lists and try to contact old cruisemates via PN on the DIS. I'll have to do our taxes next weekend, but hopefully I'll also find the time for that project. Fortunately we also have a long weekend as Pentecost Monday is a federal holiday. Unfortuantely DW has to do three shifts in the hospital, but this gives me time to do all my chores.

With the votes that are still coming in, IAGO is pulling further into an actual lead.:scratchin

So, what does everyone think, should we call the vote, or do y'all want to let the pictures :artist: still have the final say.

:listen: Let me know what you think

Just go ahead. I can live with any name as long as the company is nice :thumbsup2

Welcome all new members of our cruise! Looks like it may be active after all!:dance3: Glad my "bump" got this thread active again :lmao:

Tink... as you know, been busy and still confused... are we on google or yahoo? If yahoo, assuming I need to create an account?! :confused3

Coreyore, where in MN are you? I grew up in NE Mpls and now live just outside the metro across the border in WI. Excited to see a fellow MN as the cruise we were originally booked for had many MN and former MNs on it.

Tink... can we have 2 pics and names?! :rotfl: (You know my fav )

Just one more day w/ the Pre-Kers and next week cleaning my room out... then I may start on some of my FE gifts over the summer! (I like details, start things, then procrastinate the last 25% of something... thus, I will finish them next summer!)

Tiggerb,
did you know that WI has a partner state in Germany?
Coincidentally it's the state I was born in and still live in: Hesse.

Tiggerb, I am sooooo glad to here from you. I was getting a bit worried about you

We are on Yahoo....I can send you a PM invite today. And just so everyone knows, you do not need a Yahoo ID to sign in. You can also use a facebook ID and I believe a google ID.

And as for the 2 names, I am willing to maintain both Yahoo groups for now, but we will need to make some decisions in order to facilitate meetings and shirts and such.

However, Tiggerb, you know I am willing to do any drawings for you that you want, and maybe our families (yours and mine) can make shirts or something with the secondary name and pictures for a special get together.

Good to know :) Must be based on beer consumption ;) I may have the older son research this a bit more. Yet, MN is my heart (DH too) and I can see MN from the upstairs windows. We both work across the border.

It will be cool to meet you -- and everyone else--- next Fall. My mom spent a few years in Stuttgart (sp ? sorry ) after WWII while my grandpa was in the service. She still talks about it and she was a Preschooler.

Oh, Tink... I will check into the link after tomorrow. I have procrastinated all day (actually slept alot) and now need to finish all the little ones' stuff to send home with them. Thanks for resending it to me!

Woohoo! Added to the list and got the PM

Tiggerb, I live 30 minutes directly south of Minneapolis/St Paul. I added the exact city in my information on the IAGO group on yahoo. I love meeting Minnesotans before going on the ship. Maybe we can get a group together for a little pump-up party sometime, :woohoo: as if we needed any more excitement about the cruise!

I agree with Viking about the name, if the company is good, I'm down with anything! :)

Tiggerb,
your spelling of Stuttgart was perfect :worship:
We've been there a couple of years ago to visit the -then brandnew- Porsche Museum. It's about 150 miles from Frankfurt where we live, about 90 - 120 minutes on the Autobahn.

The partnership between our state was initiated by some German exchange students who went to Wisconsin shortly after WWII. According to my knowledge the started the partnership in the late 50ies. But I have to admit that this partnership isn't very well known over here either. More common are city partnerships - Frankfurt has 15 partner cities on four continents, but none in the US. The closest would be Toronto.

We brought German schnapps in tiny bottles to all our cruises to be devoured during the sail-away-party - last time we killed 100 mini-bottles in less than 30 minutes pirate:
Shall we keep that tradition up? :cool1:
