We'd like to do one day of snorkeling and one day of beach. Which island (Tortola, St. Thomas, or St. John) is best for snorkeling and which is best for beach? Also, could they (snorkel and beach) be combined? We don't mind doing an official tour, but we could also do things on our own.
Thank you!

I can't comment to St. Thomas or St. John, but snorkeling was a lot of fun in Tortola. We saw a lot of fish and they also brought us to an island with a beach so you could either snorkel more or hang out on the beach with a drink and some food. If you want to see pictures its in my trip report.

Thanks, FSU girl! That's exactly what we'd like to do: snorkel, beach, and yummy food somewhere. I've heard good things about the Pirates Bight on Norman Island. I was hoping to combine snorket, beach, and Pirates. Did you do the excursion on your own?

We did an excursion years ago on St. Thomas that was snorkeling for a while and then time on a nice beach for the rest of the day and it was a great time. I unfortunately don't remember what it was called but we booked it through Disney.

That's another thing I was wondering...with the Disney excursions, if it's 5 or 5 1/2 hours, is there time to get lunch somewhere? And, was it super crowded?

No we booked through the cruise. I usually prefer it that way in case something happens the boat waits for you. The excursion was around 4 1/2 hours. They had two options 8am or 12:45pm, we chose the earlier one. It was nice because after the excursion we had a pretty empty ship to ourselves. Usually for Disney excursions they run a little over the time they have listed.

This is right up my alley! I will try to find that same excursion. Thank you! pooh:
