Easter Week 2014

FWIW our 20th anniv. is this week too (on the 25th). Although it's a "big one" we'll just go out to eat on the weekend (DS has swim practice from 7-9:00 that night). Since we usually just order take-out if we actually GO OUT to eat and sit down at the restaurant that in itself will be special.:rotfl: We're going to DL and Aulani on our August vacation and we're just going to call that our anniversary celebration this year. Maybe I'm not sentimental enough but it just didn't work out to do anything super out of the ordinary ON our anniversary.:confused3

We had our 20th and I tried to take DW to Bermuda since that is were we honeymooned and went for our 10th. She would not go since it is in September and did not want to leave DS 15 at the time alone. So we stayed home. However, when we got married I was poor and gave her a small 1/2 carat ring and promised her every 10 years I would double the size of her ring. So on out 10th we went to Bermuda and I knelt down at dinner and gave her a 1 carat ring. The couple next to us just got married, the bride thought what I did was fantastic and the guy she married said he would never do that. Yea his marriage will last. So on the 20th (which I never thought we would get to), while we did not go anywhere, I gave her a two carat ring. She never stops looking at it.

I can tell you at the 30th, she is getting a kiss on the cheek and free tickets to the local car wash. I've got a kid to put through college.

That's nice of you to keep upgrading her. I worked with a guy once who had been married 10 years and had never given his wife a diamond but who did for their 10th. That was sweet. I got a half carat stone in the beginning and it's gonna STAY a half carat. I loved my original setting we put it in but I smashed my hand in a closet door a few years ago and it destroyed the setting and we lost all the little diamonds in it (I had to get it cut off my hand).:sad2: The larger stone survived of course but I had to get it re-set. We couldn't find a duplicate setting so I chose something else. It's a nice setting (thicker and sturdier than the first one) with lots of "good" smaller diamonds around the band (with more tcw) but it's just not the same as my first one. Even tho I still have "my diamond" I still miss my first setting. :sad1: The only way I would want anything different would be if I could duplicate that original setting again.

FYI Massachusetts has that week off next year. We just came back and we are from MA and there are tons of New Englanders that have that same week off. Always the third week of April regardless of Easter so count those crowds in as well. We loved April this year.. We usually go in the summer. The crowds are about the same but the weather is so much better. We are going in Aug though next year because of the timing of Easter.

Spring Break crowds are becoming harder and harder to predict due to the fact that many school districts are getting away from spring breaks that are tied to when Easter falls, and instead are picking the same fixed week each year.

For example, we are in So. Cal and our districts gives a 2 week spring break that is always the last week of March and the first week in April (Regardless of when Easter is).

OP - Check out this link. It ranks the best/worst weeks to visit Disney 2014. I believe the week you are referring to is 39/52.

We were there for 6 nights the week following Easter this year. We stayed at AKV and it was more crowded than normal but not unbearable. We were never shut out of a park and we followed Touring Plans recommendations daily for a great trip. The pool was packed. We went for rope drops, resort in the afternoon, parks at night.

We rode everything including Toy Story and Soarin'. We were used to off season travel so we expected to be overwhelmed. It wasn't nearly as bad as we expected.

Agree 100%. Sounds like we were shadowing each other!
