I know it is a peak time. But I had a little sticker shock!!!!! I was quoted about $9,500 for a Cat. 4. April 15,2006. Booking this early I thought was a little high.

A Cat. 6 was $8,000. At this rate booking the 4 seems the less expensive way to go. I hope it does'nt go up higher before I can talk to my husband when he gets home from work. I hope he is in a good mood. lal,

Boy that is really high.

We had a cruise booked for Easter break in 2005 (just cancelled it this morning) and for a Cat 6 (4 people - 2A, 13,&9) and it was $6809 - that was booked about 14 months in advance.

We have rebooked for March 25,2006 and are getting 2 Cat 6 rooms for 7000.

They really jack up the price for Easter week.

What is going on with 2006 prices? I have been reading all day about the new prices and they seem too high. Is it just me or what?

It isn't just you trust me...
I looked at the cost of a Category 7 for the March 11th, 2006 and with 2 adults and a 13 year old (adult to Disney) it is over $5000.00. That is just a tad under what we're paying for a 14 day cruise next August.
Have to think about it for a while as I'm sure there are other cruiselines out there for a better price.

Cheers,
Grumbo

They haven't gone up that much. Just those special holiday weeks.

Here's a comparison for a Category 6 room for 2 adults 2 kids (13 & 9)

March 13, 2004 $5299

March 19, 2005 (Easter) $6809

March 25, 2006 $5512

I think they are high also!
DCL is always higher in general but I guess people will pay it!
I'm even getting a 10% discount for rebooking on board so I feel sorry for those that don't even get that!!!:worried:
Should mention, I'm looking at summr 06 dates.

No surprise!!! Speaking from somehow who always cruise during easter ( I am the only one in the family who is not in school ir work for a school), I have seen prices going up every time...

I do not know if this has anything to do with the price increase, but there was story recently that cruise are popular and all the major cruise lines are increasing the prices.

Factors stated are demand and supply. Supply being that there are fewer new ships being built due to the soft economy over the last few years but demand is growing. It also stated that the major cruise lines are having good earnings also.

Ignore my last post. I just looked up the prices but I didn't realize it was for peak season and the season that I wanted was off season. Thank goodness, I was beginning to think that I would never cruise again!

I realize it is peak season. But this price is the DAY the dates came out. A catagory 4 for $9,500 you would think would maybe be a price quoted like 6 months before the cruise date, not 19 months before. If the demand isn't there to pay the high price, do you think there is a chance Disney would lower the rates? If so, would dthey give a refund accordingly?

I know this may not be of any help, but I thought I'd post it anyway...

I just booked an April 3, 2005 trip with www.mouseearvacations.com, and I got a quote of $1700 for four in a CAT 11 guaranteed.

With the guaranteed rooms at least there is the hope of a free upgrade.

I know it's not a 2006 date or even an Easter date, but it is the week after Easter, and it's a spring break week for us here in Georgia.

They have a block of rooms reserved to get this special rate. Maybe that will happen in 2006! Keep your chins up!

I think DCL and all the airlines all use the same software these days. If there is a spike in demand for a certain week, the fare automatically goes up, if demand isn't as strong as expected, it goes down.
I've run into this with Hertz Rent A Car in Houston, booked three rental cars at the same time, all on weekends, got a rate of $40 a day for a compact car for the first weekend, a rate of $18 a day for a full size car for the second, and a rate of (gulp) $75 a day for a mid-sized car for the third. Got what I reserved the first and third time, and there were few cars left on the lot, second time the lot was packed, and they upgraded me to an SUV for free.

I got a quote of $5400 for 2A 2C, 7 night, Cat 11 (no air, transfers or insurance) for that 2006 Easter week which is the week our kids are on vacation. Too much when you factor in all the other costs. So I moved to a February week which brought it down to $3700, a bit more reasonable.

P.S. The above quotes were also including a 10% onboard booking credit...

It was for the 4-night Wonder. However, when I called them to book it, they were sold out...sorry!
