We will be at WDW for the Easter holiday. Does anyone regret being at the World during a holiday. Will there be anything special happening because of Easter. I found a link for 2005 Easter events, but could not find any place on the web with 2006 info. the more expensive hotels seemed to have more going on last year, will that be true this year also? Finally, my in-laws are thinking of coming for the long weekend, we will be attending for the week. if they stay at another hotel ( a deluxe most likely), would my children be able to legally (by disney rules) visit with their grandparents, participate in any events or use that hotel pool? We want to follow the rules. Thanks for any advice/information

In general Disney doesn't do much for Easter. There is usualy a service held off property, at one of the near by Catholic dioscese. Pool Hopping is frowned upon, but we know that nearly everyone does it. If they are spending the day with their grand parents, I doubt that anyone would have a problem with it as long as Grama and granpa watched over them.

One thing to note, Spring Break at WDW Is BUSY BUSY BUSY, it is the 2nd most attended time of the year (the week between Xmas and NewYear being the most attended) so you can expect long lines and crowds.

does this mean that it would not be "legal" for the kids to swim with their grandparents? I know pool hopping is a problem and being a vacation week, i would not want anyone in my family to cause a scene, or get into trouble, or be embarrassed. Is there any legal swimming in the hotel pool for a guest of a hotel guest?

We were there for easter in 2004, and I was very suprised at the lack of crowds. I was expecting full throttles of people, but we encountered much worse crowds when were were there in Early June of this year.

In terms of celebrations, I don't know. I don't remember anything obvious.

And as long as you plan carefully and don't expect to see and do everything you will do fine! There were announced Easter events for kids at each resort of varying kinds such as coloring/egg rolling etc. at French Quarter last spring.

Our first trip was very hectic and not as pleasant as the second where we just relaxed and enjoyed what we could. Make as many meal reservations as you can but also be flexible and eat off property sometimes if you can. We spent more time at our resort the second Easter trip and shopped more as well. I don't remember them checking or even looking at anyone at our French Quarter or AKL pool for b ands or anything.

We used fastpasses liberally and concentrated on the rides we really wanted to do and actually found the crowds very manageable if you went early each morning.

I would go back at Easter again, especially if I had school-aged kids I didn't want to miss school.

Have fun! I envy you!

We have been there for Easter three times. It is crowded but not that bad. On Easter Sunday we just stayed away from MK and always went to AK. At AK some of the characters are dressed for Easter and gave candy out, but that is all, I am not sure about the other parks.

We stayed offsite and the hotels had Easter egg hunts for the kids, and of course the Easter Bunny always found DD ;)

We have been there for Easter 3 or 4 times. I don't recall anything extraordinary. The hotels usually do an egg hunt, but we haven't done it - I always figured there'd be a million kids out there and my kids haven't shown a big interest in it.

Hi!
Can you only go to the Hotels if you are staying at them?
Has anybody been asked for proof that they are guests?

Thanks,
Lynn

Have your in-laws put your children on their reservation also if they aren't booking a package with tickets/dining.

In the pools, yes. Your room Key is how you get towels, and in some Locations (Yacht Club/Beach Club's StormAlong Bay) its how you get in.

You are welcome to check out the hotels while visiting Disney. They've never discouraged anyone, from what I understand. Ohterwise, how would you eat at them, if you weren't a hotel guest?

I've been to Disney World several times over Spring Break/Easter and twice right after Christmas. I do not regret it at all. Yes, it can be very crowded, but my family always takes advantage of the extra magic hours. We never have a problem doing what we want to do.

We have been at Easter several times. Yes, it is crowded, but manageable.
All the parks stay open for longer hours, so you can get everything done with proper planning and use of Fastpass.

I may be there this Easter, too. Not sure yet.

I was there last Easter and the crowds weren't as bad as I thought. The parks did get busy in the afternoon but the lines weren't too bad in the mornings. We were staying at the Dolphin and there were Easter egg hunts and other activities for kids. I think there was also a Sunday brunch.

We're hoping to go back this year :flower:

thanks everyone, we are excited and since it is not our first time to the World, we won't mind if we don't get to do everything. this will be our first time during a HIGH season!

I checked out WDW florist, they don't have easter baskets yet, but i am sure they probably will. However, their prices seem a bit steep. I am hoping we can maybe go to the gift shop and buy a few things . . . . can you still have merchandise sent to your room from the parks?

Even DVC members are not permitted to pool hop during Easter time because of the large number of people at the resorts. Plus the weather is usually warmer, so more people will be using the pools. See if the grandparents can add the children to their room reservation so they can get room IDs. That will make it legitimate for them to use the pool.
