I am going to be at Disneyland for Easter and the next two days.

Is there anything in particular I should try to do or not do? I know it's going to be crowded. Does the part usually reach maximum capacity and close on Easter?

I have a reservation at the Storytellers Cafe for 1:45. Will they have a buffet then since it's Easter?

And, what is the Egg-stravaganza at Disneyland Resort?

Thanks

I have no advice, having never been to DLR before, but we are going at the same time as you! Easter and the next two days. I'm anticipating crowds too, guessing that the lowest over the 3 days will be Easter morning. (Locals may actually celebrate Easter before heading to the park!). We are going to be sure to have a touring plan in mind - but will also keep it flexible. We've been trying to prepare our kids by telling them that it will be really crowded too. What we haven't done yet is to sit down and figure out our must-dos, as I'm not sure how many of those we'll actually get done! Also, based on the advice on these boards, we are planning to get park hoppers to take advantage of both parks and fastpasses.

We've been a couple times on Easter and found that there weren't a lot of special Easter activities to do in the parks. There is the Egg-Stravaganza thing of course and used to be a whole Easter Bunny meet-and-greet and activities but I don't know if they'll do that now that Big Thunder Ranch area is closed. Maybe it will be at an alternate location. It's a busy day but the morning is less crowded than the afternoon. It won't reach capacity though.

If you happen to be staying at the Disneyland Hotel they do a fun Easter Egg Hunt on the lawn in front of the Frontier Tower Easter morning.

I'm not sure about Easter lunch at Storytellers. We did a brunch at Ralph Brennan's which was great. I think I'd go for that or check out Steakhouse 55 maybe?

That's true, maybe people will be at church in the morning! I'm glad to know it won't reach capacity!

I'm worried about how long it will take to get through security. I want to be ready for the rope drop at 8:00.

Yesterday I encountered one of those people at the Security checkpoint at DLR who was way too thorough (translation: took way too much time and held up the line). Some of the people at the checkpoints are not like that. I dealt with 3 of them yesterday and only one of them -- the first one of the day -- was that thorough. She turned my bag on its side (I thought my water bottle might leak, as the cap was not secure) and made me take out everything from my bag -- I am usually only asked to unzip the compartments so they can quickly glance inside -- so she could see the bottom of it. She kept asking me, "What's that? What's in there?" I would tell her, "Cosmetics --lip gloss, powder... sunscreen... a hairbrush...an extra battery..." Then, just as I was about to walk away she stopped me and pointed to the object hanging around my neck." "What's that? Can you open it," she asked.

"It's a camera," I said, getting annoyed at that point.

She was a nice lady, but overzealous compared to the other CMs at the tent. I wish I could explain who she was so everyone would know to avoid her line if they see her, but I can't think of any way to describe her.

But it was just the tables? I thought I heard they were waving metal detectors over people and patting people down.

How long do you think it will take to get through security on a busy day? Are there long lines to get to the tables?

Do you know if Storyteller's has a buffet at 1:40 on Easter Sunday?

I did not specifically see anyone getting a patdown or waved down with the metal detector, but that doesn't mean that it wasn't happening. It could have happened to some people, but I didn't experience it. However, the overzealous security table/tent CM was enough for me! The other ones I dealt with later were not like that.

Yesterday was one of those days that was not really supposed to be terribly crowded. It was certainly not slow or quiet, but it was not awful. Some rides had very short lines at certain points in the day, including HM and TSMM. There were short hours -- a late opening and an early closing -- in both parks.

Because of the 10 a.m. opening, I think people were chomping at the bit to get in the parks by that time, and the lines at the security tables/tents were very long. I must have stood there in line for a good 10 minutes before the line really started moving, but other lines seemed to be moving much more quickly. So, on a busier day with longer hours it could be even worse, I suppose.

I don't know if there is a Storytellers buffet on Easter Sunday, but I would like to know. Yesterday I passed by the restaurant several times for various reasons, and it did not look very busy at all. I thought, "If only it could be like this all the time." The PCH Grill did not look busy at all either.
