Going to Florida for 2 weeks at Easter 2016. We have sorted out a villa but need advice on the best time to book flights / car hire from london please.

flights are released 11 months prior to the return date

from experience the best time to book flights range from 8to 6 months out, but the is no rule set in stone

just start monitoring flight fares, set yourself a realistic price limit
when you see fare go under that limit, book

if you book a flight+car then the car will be sorted

if not, there is no hurry booking the car, it can even wait until a couple of weeks out
but do reserve on uk sites

As the pp said scheduled flights can be booked 11 months from your return date.

Charter flights such as Thompsons will be released before that.

If you want to book with a deposit you can't do that with flight only you will need to book flight and car together. BA offer this direct and can be very well priced. Otherwise there are several agents that can offer this one I know of is Charter Travel.

If you book flights seperate from the car there is no rush as the best prices are historically just a few months before travel.
