Easiest way to make ADRs online?

Can someone walk me through the simplest way to make ADRs for my trip? I'm nearing the 180-day mark, so I want to be prepared.

I know to log on to My Disney Experience, and you can click on "make dining reservations", but that seems cumbersome to sort through the restaurants that way. Is the best thing to do just type the name of the restaurant in the search bar? Or is there a "secret" way that is much quicker/easier?

Do you know where you want to go and what time for each day of your trip?

I haven't done it right at the 180 mark because we never make our plans that far in advance. When I do online ADRS I usually type in the restaurant name, click on the date/ time and adjust my plans as needed. I start with the hardest to get ones first. I think I would probably call though, if I had the luxury of getting the days when my window opened!
