Easiest Way to HDDR

We are going to HDDR and wanted to know the easiest way to get there. We were thinking about parking our car at the Ticket and Transportation Center and then taking the bus to Fort Wilderness. Is this the easiest way? If so, how often do the buses run and how long does it take to get there? Thanks.

we always just drive to FW, and then board the shuttle bus. We have done HDDR 17 times. (good for at least 10 lbs weight gain ) We have contemplated taking the boat from MK, but it's just so much easier to just drive there. 3 years ago when I was on a diet I made the stupid mistake of suggesting we walk back to the car. I won't be doing that again! It was after the late show, and we were walking though the woods at 11 PM. I just don't know what I was thinking. It's about 2 + miles back.

Where are you coming from? Are you visiting a park during the day? It's a beautiful and relaxing boatride from MK, Contemporary, and WL. If you have your own car, I wouldn't mess with stopping at T&TC but instead drive onto FW and take the bus down to it.

That bus from the TTC to FW has been discontinued. It apparently does run back after the shows....sometimes??? Look for a thread by ChipnDale Express about it. Well, actually I'll look for it and bump it to the top of the page for you.

We will miss that TTC/FW bus. When staying at the Polynesian, it was so convenient to walk over and hop on that bus!

The best way and the way that drops you off with just a pleasent 2 min. walk is to go the MK and take the boat to Fort Wilderness. We have doine this several times, When you exit the show they have buses standing by to take you back to your resort or if its an early show you can take the boat back to the MK. It does stop at Wilderness Lodge both ways but this is just a qwick stop of no more thna 5 min. or so to unload and take on you passengers..smjj

Just go down to the boat dock. The next stop after WL is Fort Wilderness.

Make sure to give yourself plenty of time! The boat is usually filled with people going to the HDDR from the MK and there is often no room.

I've never walked it but there is a path...maybe two... from WL to FW. But I think I've read that is is unlit and not where you want to be walking in the dark. Perhaps there is a description of it...or them...under the EL FAQ on the resorts board.
