DD11 was asking for an autograph book, which I think she may feel funny about when we go in Sept. I will buy it for her in case she is not embarrased to approach the characters with DD1, but I have also purchased a white Mickey 2004 tshirt for her to get autographs on. I figured it is "cooler". I bought her a sharpie marker for the characters to use, but am unsure as to the best way to have this done. Does DD have to wear the shirt? What do you do to preserve it when you get home? I ould think you can't wash it. Any other ideas?

the characters are not allowed to autograph shirts that you are wearing. You must bring them seperately.

Also, make sure you have a really FAT marker. Their gloves/costumes are really bulky and it's easy for them to grab fatter pens. We were there last year and my cousin brought a skinny pen for her daughter. Needless to say, they had to borrow ours.

You might want a laundry pen. They won't rub off but I don't know if they are real fat or not.

Hope this helps.

Just another suggestion - this year we used a plain pillowcase and a hat. The pillowcase made a great sham for her bed and the other DD wears her hat all the time. We just used fat sharpies since they are permanent and sprayed the hat with fabric protector that you would use on shoes. Good luck!

You could also wrap the shirt in cardboard and pin it to make it easier for them to write on it.

We did this on our last trip with our 4 kids. They each had disney t-shirts and we used sharpies. We took my DD's small travel wipes container and wrapped the shirt around that when it was getting signed. This worked out really well.

we've always used hats to have signed... they do double duty, keep off the sun and collect signatures... once home they look great hanging in the kids rooms! we buy a pack of different colored sharpies so they are colorful... our fave is our plain white hat w/winnie embroidered on the front w/his signature right there next to it... and cindy/snow white (not sure)'s lipstick kiss print looks GREAT on the hat!

i've already bought our hats at kmart for $1.50 much less expensive than an autograph book and *I* don't have to carry it!! (for those that don't want to wear their hats, they also loop onto belt loops for easy carrying!)

I love the signed pillow sham idea!...but I don't think your DD will have as much fun with that as she will with a plain old autograph book!...you will be surprised at how "cool" getting autographs is...especially since she has to be a big sister and help the 1 year old!

Getting a cap signed is super fun too...but I would suggest that Dad does this! When you get back it will be a great conversation piece whether Dad elects to allow DD11 to display it in her room or keeps it for his very self! Plus, Mom can get some of these autographs too, depending on how your family dynamics work...I just think that for some families with a "tweenie" the "tweenies" get a bigger kick out of having Dad or Mom join in on an autograph hat than they would themselves. You just have to know what works in your own family.

LOL...and I still maintain that if this is your DD11's first major foray into DisneyWorld she will have the most fun herself with an autograph book!
