I don't want to have to rent a car. Are there shuttles or buses that come to your resort and get you, im staying at CBR, for a reasonable cost? If not, is there an alternative?

Thank you.

You can take a cab for approx. $60-65.00 roundtrip. I believe Mears also has shared transportation that may be less if you are only 2 people.

Are you staying on property at Disney World? If so then your only choices are renting a car, taking a taxi or inquiring with Mears. If you're not staying on property, some hotels have shuttles for a nominal charge that will take you down to Universal.

hmm, seems like pretty poor options :(. Thanks for the info though.

Right, it does seem poor considering the number of people who want to take a day away from the mouse and try Universal.
Disney tolerates the Lynx buses that run from the TTC to SWF, but I don't think they'd let Universal buses on property. Getting from Disney to Universal by Lynx would take 2 hours with 3 different buses, no one has done it. But they have gone to SWF and that works just fine taking the #50 from the TTC.
Universal has shuttle buses that travel from the onsite hotels to WnW and SWF, but not Disney.
Nope, the mouse doesn't want people leaving the property. They want people to stay the entire time like nothing else is there. That's why Disney started the magical express thing taking people from the airport to their hotel for free.

Even though you said you don't want to rent a car, that's the best answer. It may cost more, but the convenience factor makes up for it. Otherwise hire the limo. When staying offsite, you want to arrive early, like at 08:15am and be at the front of the gate.

Mears is probably the cheapest, and they've got an "in" with Disney. The phones in the lobby have a direct way to call Mears. The only downside with them, is they pick up others along the way. So if you hire Mears, go for a 7am leave time. Early, Early, Early is the key.

Thank you for all the info, its a stark contrast to California where you can go to any amusement park from a Disney Hotel and they pick you up at the door, from LegoLand to Universal.

I think given the amount of time and cost involved, renting a car will be the way.

So true, EnnEss. In California, Disney is practical enough to realize they have to provide guests with some entertainment options if they want to keep people in their hotels for more than just a couple of days. WDW is a whole different ballgame.

oddly enough, their goofy policy will most likely result in me staying one night at universal.

Hi u can do it on a budget by getting bus to SW from TTC then a taxi to universal all in about 35mins a taxi from SW to Universal costs $15 roughly

THat's a great idea anyway. You'll get two full days of unlimited express access by staying on site one night.

for $1.50 pp, you can take the #50 bus from disney to seaworld area.
last time i tried it, the bus ran i think on the hour.

take a taxi from there to UO then. to me, i would rather spend the extra money than to give up my time that i could enjoy in the parks.

i went with the town service for a bit less than the taxi one year.
i have driven it by rental car also.
i'm too tired to do that drive at 2 in the morning after hhn.

then i wised up and started doing split stays and relocating to universal on site hotels...........best decision i ever made.

Word of warning: if you do that, you may be disappointed going back to the mouse hotels. I have found that, if you do it right, you can get a higher level resort at UO than you can at WDW for the same money. I just got a deluxe at Portofino for first week in May for $204/night. I have found that PBH is at least on a par with GF, maybe better.

Portofino is a GORGEOUS resort and well worth the money. $200/night is a GREAT rate, have a fabulous time!!

For the original poster of this thread, all 3 onsite hotels at Universal are beautiful. They all have a different flavor but are all very very NICE!! And definitely worth it for the Express pass you get. Have a great vacation!

I don't want to sound stupid but what does SW stand for.

Thanks

SW is Sea World, we also abbreviate it as SWF for Sea World of Florida.
TTC is the Ticket Transportation Center of Disney World. A Lynx Bus #50 runs from the TTC to SWF and it only costs a few bucks. The Lynx web site is here.

I agree that once you stay at Universal, you'll be spoiled. That's why many suggest putting that part of your stay at the end of the trip. 2 nights is what many suggest, that way you'll "feel" like part of the action and get to see everything.
