I have been looking at maps and you tube videos to figure out the easiest walking way to get to MK. there will be an EMH that morning. We will have a rental car and are booked into All Star Sports resort. My husband has difficulty walking and we will be renting a scooter at MK. I believe the rental place is just inside the gates. So for his convenience should we try: taking the bus from the resort directly to the ticket center, then which mode of transport from there to the ticket gates (with pre purchased tickets) or Drive the car to handicap parking (tram necessary??) ticket gates. In the videos I see people walking under overpasses, lengthy walks from cars to trams, just so confused what would be the easiest for him just to get to the scooter rental. I didn't want to try to rent one off site, not sure it would fin in the rents. I appreciate any and all suggestions.

The buses drop you off at the front gate of the MK now. Not the TTC. Driving your car would entail tram/walking to TTC and then either monorail/ferry over to MK. With Handicap parking I dont think a tram would be needed.

I'd go with the bus to MK personally, but I know for early AM hours the buses can be less frequent and require an earlier departure time than driving.

I would use the resort bus to get mk. It's the quickest and least amount of walking. I used the handicap parking last summer at mk and it was still quite a journey to the gates, especially with a broken foot in a walking cast. I was staying off property so that was my only option. It was so much of a hassle, that I did change the amount of times I went to mk. I wouldn't have had that issue if I'd been able to use the busses. In November, we didn't have a problem getting a bus from our resort for emh and we didn't have to wait too long.

I would definitely take the bus, as others said already it would be a much easier walk. Another thing to consider though is that if he has a hard time walking from the bus stop to the gates he may have a hard time getting from your room to the bus stop, especially at All Star since it may be far from the main entrance. I know you said you don't want to but you might want to consider renting a scooter from an outside company so that he can have it to use at the resort too. When we go with my MIL we rent a wheelchair from an outside company and it is really easy to do. If you haven't checked the disabilities boards here take a look there for some helpful tips and advice.

Yep, definitely take the bus. Just be prepared to get up bright and early so you can make your way to the bus stop and be waiting when the MK bus arrives. It'll deliver you directly to the Magic Kingdom without the bother of the TTC.

I'd second getting a scooter from an outside source and having it at the resort, etc. The buses, monorails, and boats accommodate scooters, and the resorts are quite large and require a good bit of walking themselves. This way, your DH doesn't have to go through renting one at each visit to a park and won't be limited in any out-of-park walking (say, should you want to visit Disney Springs, the Boardwalk, other resorts, etc.)

It is much closer to get dropped off by bus, but still not super close for a person with mobility issues. I know my mother could not make it from the bus stops or the tram or boat docks to the scooter rental area. That is why we rent a scooter offsite. They do not fit easily in vehicles, unless you are getting an suv or van. However, they go on and off the busses easily.

Bus to MK gets you the closest to the park entrance, but as others have said, it is still quite a walk from there to scooter rental.

There are usually wheelchairs at the theme park bus stops to use to get to the gate. They aren't always where they should be, but if they are, get one for your DH.

The resort bus is your shortest walk. The TTC is a long walk, even from disability parking!

Honestly if you are going to be in the parks for a few days it is cheaper and much more convenient to rent a scooter from an outside vendor like Walker mobility or Apple Scooters. They deliver the ECV right to your resort. You have it for the duration of your trip. There is A LOT of walking outside of the parks. Including back and forth to your room from the buses, food court, Disney Springs etc.

I also wouldn't take the rental car to MK. I would use the resort bus

I also suggest renting a scooter from an outside company. Tell them you want one that is easy to fold in a car, if you plan to drive anywhere. Some are easier to load than others.
Personally, when my Mom needed one, we found buses so much easier

take the resort bus and if it drops you off too fair there will be compimenty wheel chair ( some times you have to look for them or ask) that your DH can use until he gets his ECV

I've never stayed at any All Stars, but I think they have some preferred rooms that are closer to the bus stops? OP, you may already know this, but thought I'd mention just in case. Someone who knows more can post more info if needed, I'm sure.

Another vote for offsite rental. That way you can use it around the resort also

I second renting a scooter all week. I also advise that if he isn't used to driving them, have him practice before you go. Many big box stores and grocery stores loan them to patrons. I disagree that using a scooter on the buses is super easy. Practice parking one in a tight space.

Scooters go by his weight. The more robust scooters have a higher weight limit, but they are bit bulkier.

The style that can go in a car (portable), has a lower weight limit, often around 300 pounds. I don't think they are all that hard to take apart, but you have to be able to lift it, and have to have enough trunk space. One scooter model says the heaviest part is about 30 pounds, and it breaks down into five different parts. Taking it in a car will take some effort.

You can't really put non-portable models into a car, unless you have a mobility van.

The scooter should fit in your room okay. All Star rooms are 260 square feet. (Moderate rooms at POR are 314 square feet.)

You mention making rope drop, but then getting a scooter each morning. Another reason to use an outside company is that you won't have to lose time waiting in line every morning.

I use a wheelchair and we always try and get the bus as others have said it gets you the closest. But good advice also for scooter rental.

Take the bus from the resort to the MK. It drops you right near the gates rather than at the TTC.

I just assumed they were easy because my Mom had never been on one in her life before our trip and she parked and drove hers without any difficulties, even on a bus. I didn't drive it myself but it sure seemed easy and very maneuverable.
