I plan on doing "Disney On a Dime" by shopping before my arrival next month. I want to get snacks to bring into the park. Now, it's going to be hot and I'm trying to figure out some good snacks that we can carry into the park, so they can't be melty, but fairly filling/nutritious. Of course, we have the old standby granola bars or fruit snacks, but I need good ideas for some others.

What are your favorites?? :hippie:

one of our favorite most filling, and least messy, most 'durable' snack is peanut butter crackers. They stay fresh forever, and won't get crushed in your bag. Also - this time I am bringing some plastic containers (about 3") and filling with cheez-its, pretzels, etc. each day for the parks. This will be handy for long lines and between meal snacks.

Our Favorites last time were...
Mini Ritz bits Peanut Butter Crackers.
They also have cheese ones.
Also,
Teddy Grahams, animal crackers and goldfish
Any of the nabisco brand single packs.
We also had granola and breakfast bars...

chocolate melts
Gummies like fruit snacks have been known to melt- they get really sticky and melt into a ball of gummy "guess what it is fruit snack"
granola bars have been know to die a slow horrible melty death (ones made with honey or marsmallows-
never leave a rice crispy treat in a back pack during Summer..:scared1: it was rice crispy goo

we have what we call our disney mix: pretzels, cashews, some of those 100 calories thin crisps cookies, animal crackers, goldfish, and teddy grahams mix and put in container
I buy those rubbermaid twist and lock canisters-they are a bit tall not so round- works good for us in a small back pack
Peanut butter crackers are also very good to take.

Yup, granola bars and fruit snacks melt! We bring various 100 calorie packs, pringles, gold fish, Twizzlers, and dum dum lollipops...don't forget gum, they don't sell gum at Disney. We also bring Crystal light packets to flavor the gross Florida water.

We took dried fruit pieces (Welch's makes a tropical mix as well as a berry mix) that were easy to throw into snack sized bags.

Nuts would also work for a snack w/protein
Individual boxes of raisins

Nabisco makes individual packs of pretzel sticks w/cheese, breadsticks w/cheese or graham sticks w/apple sauce to dip in (Dollar Tree also makes the pretzel and breadstick varieties)

/
Mini-bagels (Lender's brand) with peanut butter and jelly
Frozen grapes (can be carried around the park if its hot)
Walnuts and blueberries (combo)
Pretzl rods
Rice Krispie treats

Publix has this big tub of trail mix for 7.99 we always get every trip as well as there big bag of popcorn. I always put these in indivual baggies and both stay pretty durable.

You guys rock, and I'm especially liking the snack mix idea. All our favorites, just sort of mixed together. It's one of those "headsmacker" ideas! Like, why didn't I think of that!

My daughter loves Ritz Bits too, especially the peanutbutter! I like the cheese, so we are definitely getting some of those! Throw them together with some Teddy Grams, raisins, dried fruit, and peanuts and we are ready to go! I'm staying at Pop and getting a fridge, but I don't think they have freezers in them, so the grape idea is good, but I can't freeze them...darn!

100 Calorie Packs are a great idea too for when I do crave that sweet snack. It could help keep me away from the Main Street Bakery!!

You guys rock and if there are any more ideas, I'll be checking back!! :yay:

I like to take a low fat chewy granola bar as they don't crumble.
An apple is nice and doesn't get squishy easily.
And Pringles are good for salty as they don't crumble too much either. Pringles also come in fat free.
A bottle or jug of water.

Slim Jims

Grapes in a container

Cashews

Pop-Rocks

...ok, not very healthy I guess (except for the grapes) - Sorry!

Nuts and raisins are filling, nutritious and easy to pack.

Dawn

We always stock up on water bottles and freeze them to take into the park. Plus we carry the koolaid to go pacs for when we refill our bottles. Last year I bought a pkg of individual Whales, and fruit snacks.
When we head down this year I am going to stock up again. It really did save us money. Plus as we were watching SpectroMagic the kids had their munchies. And we got to keep our seats on a bench :goodvibes

We love to make a mix of cashews, peanuts, sunflower kernels, raisins, m&ms and whatever else strikes us. We call it GORP - but I figure it is trail mix. We have also had ok luck with snack packs of cereal - like fruit loops and frosted shredded wheat.

If you get Nature Valley granola bars, they shouldn't melt. They are hard and take a long time to eat so you shouldn't overindulge either.

The Quakes Rice Cakes are small and good too.

Don't forget that CS places give out free ice water; most of these snack ideas are dry, salty snacks and you'll get quite thirsty!

I think apples, carrots, pear or any type of hardy fruit or veg would work. Goldfish crackers work well. May i also suggest for a budget pack pbj sandwiches we love goober grape, They tend to withstand anything. Also if you must eat in the park split meals get a double hamburger and ask them for an extra bun. then you have 2 sandwiches and they always give to many fries or ask for carrots.

You can also split a double cheeseburger by cutting it in half, and forgetting about an extra bun.

I always pack beef jerky when I go to Disney... xtra protein and really satisfying too.:goodvibes

We are taking

beef jerky
turkey jerky
Sweet n' salty mix-raisins, peanuts, m&m's, sunflowers seeds
big assortment box of Austin cracker and cookie sandwiche things from Sam's
fruit snacks
peanuts
cashews

We are also taking pop-tarts and nutri grain bars for breakfast on days we don't have ADR's

This will be our first trip, but this is what we usually take to other parks and when we go camping.

We also like frozen grapes but we don't have a freezer or cooler.

We actually got alot, probably too much but we will be there 11 full days and there are 5 of us, 3 adults and 2 children. So I guess we will see what works and what doesn't.

Good Luck!!!!
