OMG.... we just had an earthquake in Virginia...talk about a weird feeling...we are on the second floor and everything started shaking !!! I almost grabbed my purse and ran out.....

It was felt quite far away from Virginia too... I'm a work in the Boston area and we all felt it. I've heard (first-hand) reports it was felt in Northern NH, and as far as Michigan.

I felt it too- in Southern NJ.
Cheri- it was centered west of Richmond, VA- so you probably felt even more than we did.
I had no idea what was happening- everything was shaking. And our indoor wind chimes started ringing! Chandeliers swaying.
Once it stopped our neighbor ran over to make sure she wasn't crazy- and that we felt it too!

This was my first earthquake ever. I have to say- not a fan! Scary. :scared1:

I'm in Ohio and I felt it. I was sitting on the couch and it just started shaking, I had no idea what was going on. I'm probably 6 hours away from Virginia and could really feel the shaking. Weird.

I am outside of Philadelphia and we felt it. All the cubicles at work started shaking. It was so weird!

I was on a Video conference to our office in Owensboro, KY and it shook their building. I could see the camera vibrating.

Felt it here in southwest Ohio...very strange feeling.

I think I felt it here in East Tennessee. At least the time was about right.

I was sitting in my living room on my computer in Central NJ, and I felt it too.
My brick house and ceiling fans shook. Scared me too.

I live about 1 hour from Mineral, VA where they say it is the center point. OH MY GOSH!!! Of course, that is not the real thing I was thinking....:lmao:. I felt a small something this morning and then a few hours later that huge one came through. My poor dog and I couldn't move. And I kept telling myself I should move to the doorway.

All is well....... so far. Just a little shaken myself. I have a terrible feeling something is wrong though.

I felt it in my office in Toronto. I'm on the 11th floor of a 50 storey tower and my office swayed and shook for a good 30-60 seconds.

I have that same feeling too...I am shaken and I do home daycare so all my kids are shaken up, cant get ahold of any parents. I can text though but cell and house phone wouldnt work. I was scary! :scared1:

OMG... I was sitting at my desk on my computer and fan started shaking a little bit. I looked at my glass and it was shaking just like in Jurassic Park. Very weird.

60 minutes outside DC....it was scary! I grabbed all my kids and ran out of the house!

At risk of being pedantic... that's actually not advised during an earthquake. Stay where you are and take cover. Of course, hopefully there won't be a next time for when you need that info.

Thank you for this information. At work we were all just kind of staring at each other. Lots of people did leave the building but we weren't sure. I am still all shaken up about it.

I am in Toronto as well. We evacuated the building which is not what we should have done and on top of that we just completed emergency prepardedness training which said not to leave in an earthquake!

I dont have anywhere where I was to take cover but a big open space is all i could think of. especially with kids
