I've been selling new toys, outgrown kid's clothes, and Disney backpacks (bought on clearance). What kind of items have you sold on e-bay to earn money for your WDW trip?

I recently sold a bunch of those little "free with purchase" makeup and skin care products from Clinique and Lancome. I made a great profit! I've also sold my DD5 outgrown clothes, plus some of my clothes that no longer fit or I just don't wear anymore. I think I've made about $600 after all of the fees towards our trip and it was really pretty easy! Plus, it's less "stuff" in our life!

I've always managed to save enough money for our disney trips, but it looks like we're pulling the kids out of public school and putting them in private school (too much physical stuff on the playground and bus). There goes the vacation fund. I have a lot of stuff, and I want to try selling it on ebay. I'm an avid coupon/refund queen, so I get a lot of freebies and good deals. I also used to sell Avon, so I have a lot of that too.

Is there a good website with tips on how to get started? I read ebay's site, and that's helpful as far and listing, pricing, etc. But I have questions like what's the best way to ship? What day is better for listing/closing? How many times should I relist an item? How much time/week should I expect to spend on line and at the post office? etc.

How did you all learn?

I'm also an avid couponer and participate in different couponing forums. Anyway, based on general experience most people do best selling their health/beauty/food items either at a garage sale or by renting a table at a local flea market. I just tried selling some of my excess stockpile at a garage sale this past summer and was amazed at how well it sold. The bad thing about selling that type of stuff on Ebay is that shipping costs negate the savings for bidders, so in the end you don't make enough to justify the effort.

To learn more about Ebay, I'd suggest checking out the auction forums here:

or

If you read through the archives you'll find the answers to alot of your questions. Personally, I ship most everything priority mail because the supplies are free, and you can actually print out a label and pay for postage at home (it prints on regular paper). That means no waiting in line at the post office, you just drop your packages off. I bought myself a cheap kitchen scale and I've been able to charge accurately for shipping.

I have done really well with selling my sons toys that he no longer plays with. He had pretty much the complete Rescue Heroe Set and I broke it in to managable lots and sold them. I got him involved too. He was able to tell me what was cool about each toy and I could add that into the sales decriptions. Plus I told him that whatever he sells he gets to keep the cash for a future disney trip. He sold just his Rescue Heroes toys (used but still nice) and made $176 just on them. So this trip in a few weeks he has $100 and $76 for our next trip. I think it is great as we are a military family and we move a lot to the less I have to move the better. Hope it helps.

I've sold just about everything! Used kids books, videos, boys clothing, my clothing, things I've purchased for cheap and re-sold (Old Navy, Disney Store, Gymboree), electronics, toys, shoes, etc.

When we first started selling, last Jan., we were saving up for a May trip to Disney. We had a TON of stuff to get rid of, and we made about $900 after fees. It paid for all of our meals.

I don't have as much stuff now, and I've run out of used clothing for now (I have a lot of spring/summer to get rid of when the time comes), so I'm not making as much money (probably about $50 a month or so). I've noticed that bids don't go as high anymore, as they did last year. Hmmmmm.....
