My family likes to sleep late, but I'm always up by 7am. Since we're staying at BCV, would Epcot let me walk in alone, but scan all 5 key cards for each member of the family? I could then get FastPasses for Soarin' for later in the day.

You have to use the finger scan, so I doubt that would work.

Sorry, that's not possible. Every ticket that is scanned must also have the biometric scan done. Without the ticket's owner present, that's impossible to do.

I wonder...I think the OP is asking if the cards will work in the FP scanner without being checked in at the gate. I don't know...has anybody tried this?

Also, you probably would get a return time on the FP which is too early for your family to make, since you'd have to return the cards to them in order for them to get through the front gate.

If your family is only going to be an hour or so behind you, and you run to the park, admit yourself, take the cards to the FP machine, collect the 5 FP's, hop on a ride or 2 (you have an hour to kill, right?), then run to the front gate, exit, meet your family, return their cards, all get re-admitted, and make it to the ride w/in the return window...hey, it might work fine!

We considered this on our last trip. It turned out to be unnecessary. But could one person bring all cards with him to the park - not scan them at the entrance - and get the fastpasses then meet the family at the gate to give them their cards to get into the park? Or do the cards need to be activated for the day before fastpasses will work? Anyone ever try it?

I think the cards have to be scanned at the entrance to be used for Fast Pass.

But has anyone tried it? Does anyone know for sure?

if you put a ticket into a fp terminal that his not been scanned at the entrence, it wont spit out a fastpass but a ticket saying that the owner of the ticket has not entered the park today.

THAT'S what I was afraid of... :sad1:

A park pass that has not been scanned through the turnstile will not issue a FP.

I did it two years ago. The passes didnt work, but the CM gave me the fastpasses I needed.

Too bad that won't work, guess they will just have to get their little hinnies out of bed......... :rotfl2:

YEs it will not allow a person to get FP's. ITs funny b/c my family of 4 went over CHristmas break. I took the other 3 park tickets and ran to Space Mtn and got FP's for us for later. My 2 daughters tickets didnt give me a FP, said to find a Cast Member. I did and then went to Guest Relations. They scanned the 2 kids tickets and they showed that they never entered the park. I said "well here they are right in front of you" laughing and the CM said sometimes it wont register, so I got a free voucher of some sort, which was the equivalent of a FP for ANY ride for our family. We went to SM and showed it to the CM working there and went through the FP line and rode. They didnt take our voucher. We then went on Buzz and the same thing, they didnt take it. We went to BTMRR and they let us through and didnt take it. I think we were only supposed to go on one ride and the CM should have taken it :confused3 , but it was fun though. Anyway you cannot get FP's without that person's pass being scanned and they (adult) must use the biometric scan to enter.

A few months ago, I was with a friend who's AP had somehow gotten demagnitized. We think it might have been next to the cell phone. Anyway, the CM compared the AP to the ID and just let my friend through.
Later, the AP wouldn't work for FP's until a new AP was obtained from Guest Relations. We were told the same thing, that the ticket holder must be accounted for by the front gate before it will work in a FP machine.
Technology, frustrating sometimes! :rolleyes2

We just did exactly what you want to do.

We were attending a Bowl game, so were unable to go to the park until later in the day.

My brother-in-law took my family's tickets with him (9 tickets in all) and when he went to get FP's he asked the CM who was there if he could get FP's for my family too (explaining the reason). They were happy to oblige.

The CMs aren't supposed to do that. Just like they're not supposed to accept FPs after the time expires...

Ds and dh have experienced this on more than one occasion. The only difference is their id's were not checked, so they didn't know about the situation until they were unable to get FP's. One CM at guest relations said she saw this a lot, expecially when there were long lines to get in. Rather than slow things down, the CM at thhe gate just overrode the system or something to let them in when their PAP's didn't work.

Nope no FastPasses if the person hasn't entered the park.I once went to get FP tickets for me and my mom and she by mistake gave me my dad's Seasonal Pass since she always holds his and he didn't come with us.The FP machine spits out a ticket that says " This is not a valid FastPass."

Again, the machine WILL NOT give you a FastPass, you need to ask a CM if they will. YMMV, but we were successful.
