Early reports on coming announcement...

Everyday in the parks has hundreds of birthdays during the low season and thousands during the high tides. Disney would never give out something like that -- no company could afford to do that; and yes, people would falsify documents just to take advantage. No bean counter at corporate would have offered such a stupid idea. If they do announce it, I will have a lower opinion of the company.

They better announce something big, something for the U.S., something for WDW. We already know about Anaheim's plans for the next few years. And to make an announcement about Shanghai, in New York, as if we care? That even has no bearing on stockholders because a Shanghai park would be years away in a country that has a daily wage of about $5. I still don't approve of them building a park there. Hong Kong is still a work-in-progress. C'mon, Disney, don't water down the alcohol on this one. Give us the one-two punch and deliver something big.

Unfortunately they really are considering it. I'm not sure I'd believe it either if I didn't get the email survey from them. I'll still be really disappointed if it's the "big" announcement though...

My husband thinks that they're going to announce the building of a new park somewhere up north...I think it may have something to do with either a New Show, or a New Airline...? :confused3

I'm having a hard time waiting until noon!

FYI - WDWNews.com is now promoting its Twitter feed at http://twitter.com/wdwnews. The latest message says "At 1:00 pm Eastern, wdwnews will be transmitting a special Disney Parks announcement live from New York City."

I"m not getting who this is supposed to attract...? If you're there celbrating your birthday, you should already have your park tickets...what good will it be to get in free? Sounds like more of a perk for Florida residents...

They did say they were going to announce 2 major things. The press event should still be going on right now. I'm hoping that more info is on the way...

And it's absolutely useless for AP holders. :(

And who travels for a 1 day trip, unless you are only an hour or so away. If you are going on a Disney vacation, most are buying a multi park ticket. Once you add another day, it is only a few dollars when you are staying 4 or 5 days.

This is not a perk for FL residents because most of us have AP's. And most of the ones that don't aren't going to go to Disney either way. This is not going to help me out at all.

It does not seem like a good deal unless you are local and only going for the day.

We actually do go every year on DD actual b-day but we get a pkg that has the MYW tickets included. I do not even know if our DD could get her tickets with one less day doesn't everyone on the package have to have the same tickets. :confused3 .

From the FAQ

Q: I am a Passholder (or have a valid Multi-Day Ticket or a Seasonal Pass that I will use for admission on my birthday in 2009), so I don't need to take advantage of this offer. If I register, is there anything else I could receive on my birthday?

A: Yes, you have several options which are available for you to select once you arrive at the Park with your confirmation message and your proper ID. You can receive:

* A birthday fun card in an amount equal to the price of a 1-day Magic Your Way base ticket* for you to use on your birthday for merchandise, recreation or fun activities at select participating locations at Walt Disney World® Resort; or
* A special birthday FASTPASS® badge+ for certain attractions at the Theme Park you visit on your birthday; or
* A 1-day Magic Your Way base ticket for you to use any time until your next birthday.

*Ticket price at gate, excluding tax. Adults receive card in the amount of an adult ticket; children (ages 3-9) receive card in the amount of a child ticket.

So we will actually be there in January on my DD's 2nd birthday - but it sounds like she couldn't even get a gift card?

So lame!

Yea I would think that if the kid's not going to pay to get into the park anyway then there would be no getting anything free. Maybe they'll give her some baby minnie ears or something. They can't ignore the tots!

lol. Hmmm...I wonder how they will actually do this for the babies.

BOOOO My birthday is the end of Jan. and I can't take off to go to Disney during the school year. I'm going for my 30 1/2 birthday and anniversary. I wounder if that will count?
I doubt it. "I had a birthday 6 months ago" isn't the same thing as "Today is my birthday." That's what I'm thinking, anyway.

I wouldn't make a special trip to Disney for a $75 gift card.
Who would? But if you were making a special trip to be at WDW on your birthday and they give you a birthday present, that's pretty cool, IMO. Especially for children.
