Hi there,

Can I prepay my dues by credit card now or do I have to wait until the 15th of Jan 05 before the money is debited. The reason I am asking, is that the exchange rate is so good at 1.93 per pound, can I also pay by wire transfer.

You don't have to wait until January 15. Just call MS and select the Member Accounting option. I'm sure they'll be happy to accept your payment.

Happy Holidays! :)

I too have paid early, mostly to take advantage of double miles or points offers on credit cards. So like Doc said, it works...and Dis will be happy to take your money whenever you are ready to part with it! :earboy2:

I just did this on Tuesday. I called member accounting and gave them my credit card number. I like to pay them before the end of the year so I can take the RE taxes on my current year tax return.

When you pay the dues does not affect the ability to deduct the real estate taxes since that deduction is "in arrears"--i.e., you can only deduct the actual taxes paid, so the 2005 estimated taxes are not deductible until they are actually paid by DVD and you receive the statement in 2005 as to how much of your dues actually went to 2005 taxes. Thus, as soon as you get your dues STATEMENT you know what your deduction is for the taxes due in April 2005. Prepaying your 2005 dues does not change the deduction for tax year 2004 in any way (other than the extra payment for misestimating 2004 taxes that occurs this time around) because you are not actually paying taxes--it's like paying into escrow, you don't deduct your escrow payments, you deduct the actual tax bill once it comes.
