Early November Travelers! For those arriving Nov 1 ~ Nov. 17

Ahk! Slower moving?! I just found out about this from the fb page and it's already on page 3! (My name's Tami on fb.)

I'm arriving on the 1st, you have me listed but not my resort. We'll be at AoA in a Nemo suite.

It's my family's 1st vacation anywhere, kids' 1st time in a hotel and Disney. My in-laws are joining us for 3 days then taking my daughter back home with them while DH and I stay 2 more days with my DSs. We're so excited! We'll be celebrating my boys' 5th b-day. We've been saving to go to Disney when they were 5 since they were born (seriously!). I haven't stayed on property since I was 2, my DH has never stayed on property. Did I mention that we're excited?!!!! :yay:

We are going to be at the same resort, same dates, with children almost the same ages (girl, 2, boy, 5, boy, 6). Also first time for the kids. :)

Had to make a bit of significant change to our reservation...still the same dates, October 29-November 11, but now we are staying at the POP for the whole time. I'm a bit sad about not getting to stay at the CSR, but at least we're still going (thanks to saving a pretty significant chunk of money)!

Just curious - when you call to make the payment, do you just give them the number on the gift card?

I'm working with a TA so I don't have to call them all in! She just has to give them the number off the card. I email her the numbers.

Well, I can officially relax, LOL. We hit day 77, and the trip is 100% paid off. Plane tickets bought and monies set aside for the dog's kennel while we are gone as well. Not my quickest pay off as I had our first trip in 2009 done about 4 months before, but based on car repairs that came up this summer, 77 days out is still pretty respectable, IMO

is anyone else still shocked at how much airfare is at this point?!! I was really hoping to see a drop by now...it's still at nearly $400 a ticket, and has been for 2 months!!

This is why I did mine with JetBlue the day it was released for our dates. It was $381 round trip for BOTH tickets from National (DC) to Orlando. It has not gone below $460 total since their first increase, and has been around $500-$525 lately

Yeah, congrats on being paid off!

yeah, it is crazy. We gave up and booked a few months ago with SW. It was crazy last year too and never went down to a decent amount for us. We ended up paying more than we wanted.

On the other hand, I kind of regret not waiting! We booked early since I did not think the prices would get lower and I was worried about choosing a cheaper flight that would work with our dates - since we were booking rented points through DVC I couldn't wait on the resort reservation and we were rather stuck. Sure enough the prices DID go down, and we would have saved my 20,000 Alaska points and another $50-$100; my parents ended up booking cheap flights for December when the deals started popping out so I couldn't just ignore that I bought too early. :badpc:

Looks like I joined the wrong November thread?? :rotfl: We will be there Oct 31-Nov 10th. My PTR is in my signature. Loving the idea of uniting with other people going during the same time. It'll be our 5th WDW in 5 years and this is my first time finding a thread like this! So HI everyone! And happy planning! :wave2:

Just came across this thread, is it too late to join in the fun and be added to the list? If its not too late, my trip is planned for 10/29-11/8/12, staying at POFQ with my best friend.

I paid off my trip in full a few days ago! So today I called and upgraded to Deluxe dining, and paid it off too. My friend and I have been making regular payments to a "Disney Vacation Fund" since last October, and since I saved money by getting FD I had to find other ways to spend it. So I have tickets to MNSSHP on Oct 30th, Cirque de Soleil on Oct 31st, SeaWorld for 2 days(don't shoot me, we are spending plenty of time at Disney parks, but we love animals) , Backstage Safari tour at AK, a behind the scenes tour at SeaWorld.............and there is still money in the account! I am pretty sure I can figure out other things to do with it, maybe a bounce back offer if I am lucky?

Now I just have to wait 68 days until I can check in!

Welcome to all the newcomers. Life has been so crazy for me lately, it's hard for me to have any Dis time...I know...such a sin!
I am now planning a Disney Cruise for Sept too, so I need to get in that planning mode as well. I need a few more hours each day...and the energy to stay awake during those hours!

I have added everyone to the list, but if I have missed you, just let me know.

could all of you give me opinions on a few restaurants? I have booked Cali Grill~our Best Friends here at home go every trip and they love it, but the reviews are so hit & miss that I am not sure now. Also, Artist Point, Tutto Italia and Via Napoli~ these last 2 because we have an Epcot night we want something new....honest opinions please...I am in a quandry! And tired of reading all the review sites/threads!:faint:

We did California Grill in 2009 and loved it. Great food, great atmosphere, and a beyond great server.

We did Artist Point in 2010, and it was good, just not what we expected I think at the time, but looking back, we had had a long day and just arrived that day, so we are going to give it another whack this trip to see if maybe we were just tired and in turn critical.

That's what I think happened to us at 'Ohana our first trip. DH 12 (at the time) and I LOVED IT! Loved the noodles, meats, etc... DD9 and DH were NOT happy - BUT our resie was at 9:00pm! We were tired and VERY hungry and some of us (!!!) were cranky! I would love to go back but DH really doesn't want to. Ugh!

I liked California Grill when we went, but our best meal by far was Flying Fish during the trip. I honestly can't remember what we ordered but it was good (though spendy!) and we timed it for wishes which was very nice. The restaurant itself felt a little stark, and on one side we had a group of very... enthusiastic businessmen and on the other a family who was desperately trying to stretch out their desert course with a little girl asleep in her seat. Once the fireworks ended it was like a mass exodus (except the business table - they ordered another round). I wouldn't hesitate to say it was good and recommend it, but there are *better* restaurants on property.

Of the other three Via Napoli is the only one we tried - the pizza was very good Italian style - it reminded me of the pizzas I had in Florence and Rome for sure. It was pretty loud and they gave us a table that was at the same time in the middle of the runway so to speak and yet utterly overlooked by our waiter - I couldn't count the number of times he walked right by when we were trying to wave him down. Eventually we flagged down a manager and she helped us herself the rest of the meal. We also had to wait a long time after our ADR to be seated, so I think it must have been a crazy night. The decor was great and I loved watching the guys flip the dough around.

Well, for us - we didn't LOVE it like most people do. But we went on our LAST night and went late to be able to view the fireworks. MK was open until 2am that night so we had napped right before we went, which was a mistake! My DD(10) felt tired and cranky and sick to her stomach waking up after an hour nap. She was on the adult dining plan but didn't feel like eating anything from the adult menu, so they let her get mac and cheese from the kids menu. We still joke about the $80 mac and cheese she had that night! DD12 and DH and I enjoyed our meals but we don't like sushi and don't drink so we just didn't think it was worth 2 TS credits - that's just OUR opinion. Watching the fireworks was fun, but honestly - I enjoy them much more down on the street in MK and seeing them UP in the sky instead of looking over and down on them.

To help give you reference, our favorite place to eat is Whispering Canyon - the skillet plate is right up our alley!!! LOL
