Anyone done one? Do they tend to sell out? Be packed with families with toddlers? Is the weather OK in the Caribbean? Thanks!

We just booked a May 2 cruise. Historical weather trends look good, but, just like summer, I'm prepared for anything. Our particular sailing is not sold out, but the following one is, so my guess is that popularity is hit or miss. I'll be interested to see what the other replies are.

We went for Mother's day this year on the Dream and the weather was perfect.

My gut feel was that the boat was either full or almost full.

Good luck

We just booked for May 2 as well. We will have a school age daughter with us and a three year old. Our friends are booking soon and they too will have toddlers with them so I would guess there will be a lot of toddlers or very young kids on board. As far as the weather I've only cruised in July so not sure about the weather in May.

Our thought was that this was probably the last year we would be so ok with taking DD3 out during the school year. While JK isn't necessarily "real" school, we don't want to set a precedent.

We did Mid may this year (May 9-16). We have also cruised the last 2 weeks of April on other lines. My experience on Disney and the other cruises has been that they are not super crowded. There were a decent amount of younger kids but not tons of toddlers. I like cruising that time of the year. Weather is mild, its not super crowded and my birthday is in May so there is that too...

Hey Testing H20 we have a thread over on Cruise Meets Forums for May 2, 2016 cruise, come on over and join us.

My daughter will be in first grade and I'm feeling a little guilty about taking her out for a week.

We were on the May 2 Fantasy Eastern C cruise this year and we were told that it was not completely full, something like 300 people shy of full. The cruise prior to ours, we were told, had been VERY empty and there had been 11 concierge rooms available for upgrade on the day of embarkation.
We felt that the pools were little mosh pits on sea days, but were very lovely on port days. We went with a kindergardener (yes-pulled her out of school for WDW/cruise 14 days total) and a toddler. Saw other toddlers and children but this was most palpable on sea days around the pools. Never did the kids clubs exempt for open houses so can't really comment on those.
The weather was cool the first 2 days- but there was a fluke cold front (that had also hit us in WDW and followed us on the cruise) but the rest of the time it was lovely-not too hot or too cold. Castaway Cay was ideal beach weather- warm, sunny, go in the water but never felt like we were sweltering.
We chose this cruise because it was after spring break before school got out so the pricing was much nicer than the other summer cruises.
We have been in June and July on caribbean cruises and they were very hot in comparison.
Enjoy your cruise!!

We were also on the May 2 Fantasy cruise this year and there was a sign up at guest services saying that the cruise was fully sold out (and that no upgrades or room changes were available). It definitely felt like a sold out cruise---everywhere we went was mobbed. But that could be bc we r used to the classic ships. There were kids of all ages and a ton of littles (we have a 2 year old and saw the nursery was usually busy).
Castaway was perfect weather. STT and San Juan were already steamy (mid 80s and humid) but tolerable.
