I hate to keep asking such similar questions, but we finally got some more solid info on DH's deployment so I can start really getting into seriously planning my mother/daughter trip.

I've looked at all the info about block outs, but to be honest i'm not sure on how to interpret it/plan with it. I don't really get what it means or what the difference in crowd levels is like. I've read everything to block out dates have higher crowd levels, lower crowd, avoid them, only go those days, etc etc.

It's looks like our trip will be either June 2nd-5th, or the 3rd-6th. Is there any real difference there? I'm mostly worried about only being able to ride 3 or 4 things a day due to long lines, or having long lines for like, the bathrooms, etc.

Mostly we want to shop a bit, ride most of the rides in both parks, and meet characters. Not overly interested in shows, not really our thing, though we would like to see the fireworks at least once. Like i've mentioned before, this will be mom's first visit, and i just want her to have a good experience and get to do a lot, not just be mushed into other people all day. We'll be getting 4 day hoppers, with 2 full in park days and 2 half days.

Bump...

I'll be here too during this time so I'm curious to see if anyone has any answers.

If your only two choices are June 2-5 or June 3-6, the only AP blockout during that time for SoCal AP is June 4. For SoCal Select it is June 3-5. Thus your two dates have no difference as far as AP blockouts. So you can drop that from your consideration of choosing dates. Both date ranges are the same.

Now that you arrive at that conclusion, you can ask "will it be super crowded"? I think the reason no one jumped into answer you is that no one knows. The biggest, hugest factor right now is when some of the new things will open. That is what drives AP crowds especially.

We know Star Tours 2 opens May 20. We do not know when the new Little Mermaid ride will open (some are saying June right now) or when the new Soundsational parade will debut. Might be April, May or June. Once these are announced folks will better be able to gage early June.

Typically early June has lighter crowds. That is why park hours are usually reduced and entertainment is reduced. But crowds could really surge if for example Disney opened the LM ride and the new parade on say June 3 or over Memorial Day the weke before.

Again, what should you do? First, if you are really, really concerned about crowds over all else, then you may want to re-schedule your trip because there are a lot of uncertainties with early June. Weekdays in early May tend to have more predictable lower crowds. If you are set on going in June on the dates you listed then neither is better than the other.

If it was me I would do June 3-6 to avoid the Grad Night on June 2 - see "The Scoop on Grad Nights at DLR in May and June" - www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2298400

I missed the date for Star Tours being May 20th for Disneyland Hydroguy. Where did you see that??

Thank you for the info/input. I wish the dates were up to me but they aren't. My mom is flying out from Michigan to see DH before he leaves and be with me the first few days after. Obviously when he leaves isn't up to us either, so i have to just work around the Air Force's schedule.

I guess I have been working too hard lately - in fact it is not a guess, it is a fact :) - but I have getting my facts mixed up lately. In another thread I thought the Cars 2 movie was to be released in 2012 but it is in fact this summer.

I also thought that ST2 at DL was re-opening the same date as DHS - May 20. Apparently that is not the case.

This link says it will happen in June:

I read somewhere this week that the delay from May to June may have something to do with the POTC 4 movie premiere at DL in mid-May. I guess it could get confusing for guests to see a lot of pirates running around at DL at the time as stormtroopers in May and perhaps they want to space that out a little more (no pun intended! ;)).

See POTC 4 Movie Premiere at DL in May - Probably May 14
