Early June Resort Discounts Question

We will be coming to WDW in early June next year for 6 nights. I am trying to decide whether or not to join AAA for the discount. I know the AAA disc for 05 is not out yet, but am expecting around 10%. Even less would be worthwhile since we are planning on at least 4 nights at the Poly. My question is if anyone knows if Disney usually offers discount codes for early June that might beat the AAA discount. Or, more simply, what kind of discounts were available in 04 for that time period? I was thinking summer months might have fewer discounts than the nice ones we're seeing for Aug and Sept. But, (pinching pennies here) I don't want to pay $47 to AAA if I can get just as good a rate without it. Thanks!

Yes, Disney usually offers much better discounts than AAA in early June. We have stayed at the YC three times and Poly once and never paid more than $200 before taxes. We didn't go this year, but last year we tried the two room thing and values were $55 and moderates $74 with an AP. Some of the discounts are AP -- usually worth it to buy one to get the discount. One of our discount was an upsell (asked for a moderate and told no availability they could give me a deluxe for xx) -- I had read about it on these boards and called over and over until I got the offer. I think it was $189 for the YC.

I'm sure you know that it will be a while before discounts are out.

Thank you very much. I am expecting discounts for that time period to be announced maybe around spring break next year??? Thank you for the "upsell" idea as well. That is definitely worth the effort of continuing to call until (hopefully) you hit it. Is POR probably the most popular moderate?

You can check MouseSavers.com - Historical Trends to see what discounts have been offered in the past and when they were announced. From what I can see, discounts for early June, 2004 were announced in mid-April.

Chances are that those rates would be better than the AAA rates. If your only reason for getting a AAA membership would be for the WDW discount, my advise would be to forget it. There are better discounts to be had.

As far as POR being the most popular moderate, that's all in the eyes of the beholder. I prefer CSR. But that's me. You should have no problem booking POR if that's where you'd like to stay.

We're going in June 2005 also. I do have AAA but have found in past trips that other discounts were better.

just for reference:

we stayed at the Poly june 4 & 5th of this year for an AP rate of $229+ tax for garden view.

Thanks for the info! I'm too far away for an AP to work for me, but sounds like I'm safe to wait until spring for the "available to all" discounts to be announced. We will be making stops on the way down, but not enough to pay for AAA without the Disney portion.

We stayed at a moderate for $99 per night (tax included) in early June this summer. That was the discount available to everyone. The AP rate was maybe $10 cheaper, but it would not have been worth it to buy an AP for that slight extra discount.
