Early entry to Disneyland question

Hi - My family is going to stay at the VGC in December the week before Christmas Yay! It'll be our first time to stay at the villas and we're very excited. However, since we're traveling from the East Coast, and my kids of course will get up at 4:45am CA time, I'm very concerned about the fact that Disneyland does not open to the general public until 8am. On many of the days, though, it has "early entry" at 7am, which is much more appealing.

Here's my question: When I look at ordering tickets online, it says that "bonus tickets include one Magic Morning early admission to Disneyland Park". However, if we're staying at VGC, do we get early admission every day it is offered? Do I need to buy bonus tickets?

When I bought the tickets in the past the bonus part was free. Generally, you won't need to use the bonus tickets if you are staying onsite. You will have early entry privileges all the days that you are there. However, since most people stay off site at DL they offer a bonus ticket of one early entry day for passes. Have you checked out the Disneyland board here on DIS it has tons of valuable information that I would read up on before leaving.

I stayed at the VGC in May and was able to attend Magic Mornings every day they were available.

Just to be clear, there's nothing extra you get with the 3+ day tickets that have MM on them. They are just tickets. You just won't really use that part of the ticket entitlement, when staying onsite. You show ticket and keycard (everyone who needs a ticket to get into the parks will get a keycard, even 3 year olds, complete with their names on them) and that combo gets you into the Magic Morning hours. And when staying onsite, you get access to all of them (typically the S and T days) during your stay, including check-in day (if you get there early enough) and the day of check out, assuming of course both are MM days.

This was really helpful. So I'll need to carry around 8 items - keys and tickets for each of the four members of my family... correct?

Yep, pretty much! Although the kids don't really have to have the keycards on them when it's NOT Magic Morning days. Those days, it's just the tickets that are needed. But that might get even more confusing to switch back and forth.

I know it's different from WDW, but it's actually an improvement from about 3 years ago.

As long as you have admission for that day (one day ticket, multi-day, AP), if it's an MM day and you're staying at the Grand, the Villas at the Grand, Disneyland Hotel, or Paradise Pier Hotel, you get access to MM with your "key to the magic". It's the only way an AP holder can get MM!
