Early entry - Still for Disney resort guests only?

How do they know you're a Disney resort guest?

How thorough of a job do they do in checking this upon entry?

You have to present your resort ID card at the turnstile (as well as your park ticket) for entry to the Magic Morning, everyone in the party over the age of 3 is issued one at check in.

The main reason I'm asking is because when I stayed there 2 years ago, I have no memory at all of them asking to see any kind of Disney resort guest ID.

We were checked for resort ID's at AK and MK. At MK they checked our ID twice because we drove and came in through the TTC and then again at MK.

Yes, still for resort guests only, and it's a good thing.

If one wants to enter early, then be willing to pay the extra $$ and stay at the resort.

When we went in June I had an AP and my family had the 10 day tickets. At each park for EE we were asked to show our resort keys.

yes, it is only for resort guest, however I've never had to show my resort ID on an EE day. (and I have an AP.) (But i've always been a resort guest.)

however, I did take disney transportation...so that got me 'into' the parking lot early at least.

They were not asking for any resort ID when we went to EMH at the MK in May. The place was MOBBED and seemed like it was more a Saturday afternoon then EMH. I don't waste my time anymore doing them. I'd rather sleep in.

Yes they do check - at the parks and sometimes when you go to MK they check when you board their transportation as at MK you need to cross Bay Lake if you are coming by car. Glad they do check - that's what I am paying for by staying on site.

You know, I am not certain that this has anything to do with EE.

When we were there in August (and NOT staying on site) they asked to see our passes before we went up the ramp to the monorail. It was almost as if they wanted to make sure that no one left the TTC without an admission.

I thought that it was a little odd.

We went in July and were asked at MK for IDs.

And we also were walking from the Poly to the TTC and once we passed the ticket buying area we were stopped and asked for an Resort ID or ticket. I thought that was odd too.

While at WDW 9/15 - 9/27/04 we were almost always asked to show our Resort ID during EMH. We usually just had them ready to show at the turnstile. We showed them at MK, AK & MGM - Epcot is the only park we didn't go to for EMH. HTH! :)

Since our resort ID was also our ticket into the parks, we always had ours out, but we did see people get turned away when they tried to enter and didn't have their resort IDs.

We boarded at the Poly monorail for EMH. There were two families getting on with us that were staying offsite. One was telling another family that they parked at the Poly even though they were offsite. No one asked to see anything from us to get on that monorail. When we got to MK no one was checking resort IDs. No one. That family got in the park right next to us. No one asked for their resort ID and they were let right in. Those offsite folks happily enjoyed what resort folks pay big bucks to do.

Terry,

Since you quoted my post, I hope that you did not misunderstand me and infer that we "illegally" used EMH when we were staying off site. :(

My strategy staying off site is to visit the park where EMH was the day before, so we were visiting the MK on an non-EMH day. Even then we were asked to show our passes before going up the ramp to the monorail.

That is what I thought was odd.

I am sure that a few off-site people fall through the cracks and are able to use EMH when not entitled. But it surely seems as if there is a lot less chance of this happening than a few years ago when they never checked Resort IDs.

That's why I wanted to confirm that EMH was still for on-site resort guests only because I used EMH 2 years at nearly every park and had no distinct memory of CMs ever checking for my Disney resort ID. Since I'll be staying offsite on my upcoming visit, I wanted to see if maybe there was some secret or some common knowledge that offsite folks were often admitted even though the policy stated otherwise.

Judging from the responses to this thread, that apparently is not the case. :)

Oh no no no! I didn't think you did. I was remarking on how some of said they were asked for ID at the transportation places and I was not.

The next thing you know somebody posts asking whether there was some secret or some common knowledge that non-paying folks were admitted to the parks.

I think that they spot check. I usually have my resort id out, so am not always aware when they are asking for it.

When we drive to the parks we have the resort parking pass, so it's obvious that we are resort guests.

Our first couple of trips to WDW (1998 and 2001) they always checked for the resort room keys before being admitted for EE. Hopefully most people are honest and don't try to sneak into the EE park when staying offsite. Not right to do!!!

My next question is:

why are people so hostile on this forum?
