I am considering making a dinner ADR at JIKO. What is the earliest dinner ADR one can request? Also, how "fancy" is JIKO? We will have our young children with us, and I am wondering if I should save this one for when they are older.

I believe they open about 6:00pm. As far as young kids, it would depend on the child. I've only eaten there twice and both times I saw only a couple of kids in there, but they were always well behaved. Make an early ADR and if your little ones start to act up, just take them out. No problem. The only problems I've ever seen with little ones at signature restaurants are when the parents refuse to take them out. This happened at Citricos last May. There was a little girl that just kept throwing a fit and the parents just ignored her. Those people were getting some dirty looks. Well behaved kids are always welcome at restaurants at WDW. The only ones they are not, that I know of, are Victoria and Alberts and Bistro de Paris.

As far as I know it opens at 7 pm..... I have not been since last 6 months. Some times it depends on the number of children.

We had a first seating at 5:30 and the place was pretty much empty until we left at 7pm. There wasnt any kids there at the time we were eating but the host desk had a huge basket of crayons and coloring sheets so I sure kids are very much welcome at Jiko. DH wore nice jeans and a polo and I had a sun dress with sandals, that was plenty dressed for this place.

It opens at 5:30. I have been to Jiko many times and have always seen lots of children there. It is no problem to bring the kids, but (as a PP said) just be prepared to take them out of they can't handle the pace of the meal (it will take at least an hour) or otherwise start to act up.

I didn't realize JIKO is a signature restaurant. Has it always been??? I think I will spare the other diners, who may be using two dining credits to have a wonderful meal experience, having to dine with my kids! LOL!!! I'll save JIKO for another time, when my children are older...and more behaved!
