We're going the first week of December. We'll certainly check the weather as the time to travel approaches.

If you go during this time frame, what kind of clothing do you typically pack. We're planning to return to our room most days in the early afternoon for our son to take a nap.

Susan

I've gone to the world three times in early December CBR 95, DL 98 and POP 09. I've also been in August and I defiantly prefer December. The early mornings and evenings once the sun goes down can get cool, but coming from the upper Midwest not that cold. Our last trip we waited and bought new Disney sweat shirts the first night at MK. We used them every night while we were there.

During the day, shorts and t-shirts are good, unless you get a central Florida rain.

We would normally pack jeans and t-shirts to wear during the day and carry a sweat shirt along for the evenings.

We were there last Dec (10-18) and it was COLD!!!!! It was unusual (coldest in 30 years I believe) but it can happen. We were under wind chill warnings cautioning about frostbite and temps were below freezing. Being from Texas, it was not something we are accustomed to. On those days, we wore thermal underwear, heavy coats, scarves, and gloves and slept in to avoid the coldest part of the morning. By the end of the week, it had warmed back up and we were in short sleeves during the day. You just never know!

It can go either way. We were there one year as part of the Disney Cruise and it was brilliant sunshine and 70's temps. On other trips, it was 70 in the daytime and pretty chilly at night. Another time it was chilly-ish all day (no pool type chilly). So your best bet is to do what you're planning to do - monitor the forecast and plan to have a sweater/sweatshirt/jacket on hand. If you see that the forecast is trendy toward the colder temps, you can pack accordingly.

We were also there last year for the record cold spell. I had on my long underwear and wore a full-length wool heavy winter coat with a hood, plus gloves and scarf. I was very comfortable. It was EXTREMELY cold in the evenings - and I'm from Wisconsin, so I know cold.

The week before we got there, people were running around in shorts and sandals. Unfortuantely, we only had one day when it was in the 60's so we could survive without a jacket okay.

Just watch the weather reports and you'll have a good idea by the time you need to pack, and take a little extra just in case they're off a bit. We traveled with friends, and they had trouble finding anything heavier than a sweatshirt at the Disney stores on property - I didn't need to look for anything myself.

The Christmas decor was well worth the trip though! It's beautiful!

As PP have said last year was freezing. It was warmer at home on MA!! I wished I had brought a turtle neck and ear muffs! EMH at EPCOT one nite was 40 degrees. I wore 2 sweatshirts and a fleece! Almost couldn't zip the fleece there was so much bulk:rotfl:
BUT I also had a frozen margarita in my gloved hands. Some things you just gotta do!!

The weather can go either way at that time of the year. Last December it was very cold! I would recommend you check the 10 day outlook at weather.com for WDW, and pack from there.

Definitely bring long pants, it can get cool in the evenings.

OMG, last year was freezing!! We were there from Dec. 11-20 and were so glad that we decided to keep our thick winter coats with us when we got to the airport in Minneapolis. One day hit 80 and the kids got to swim, the rest were 40's-60's during the day and I remember one evening hit 27...ugh...so much for leaving Minnesota weather behind, lol. It was sorta funny to see everyone wearing the same Helly Hanson puffy down coats from Epcot ($200+) b/c that was basically the only warm coat to be purchased on-site. Even though we felt robbed of warm Florida weather, it isn't stopping us from coming again this year from Nov 29-Dec 9....it can't happen 2 years in a row can it?????? :confused3

I was also there last year when it was sooooo cold. Being from Texas I wore jeans, a tshirt, a fleece over that, then a coat, gloves, hat, and scarf and still almost froze. I was also there a few years before and almost froze. I usually go every year either the first or second week of Dec (going part of the first week this year) and the weather is all over the map. Some trips we'll start off in capris and tshirts, then by mid week be in coats and jeans, then by the end of the week would be swimming and wearing shorts. You just never can tell with Florida weather. I usually keep an eye on acuweather.com and don't pack until just a few days before we leave. Even then, accuweather.com is frequently wrong, so I pack the majority of my suitcase according to what accuweather says the weather is going to do, but still pack a variety of winter and summer stuff anyway. Even if accuweather says it's going to be warm, still include at least one pair of jeans/sweats, sweatshirt, fleece, and a coat. Also throw in a pair of thin gloves, a scarf, and a warm hat. They don't take up that much room and you never know if you'll need them. On the other hand even if the forcast calls for cold weather throw in a a few pairs of shorts and a swimsuit. I know one year the forcast was for cold weather so that's all we packed for and we were looking for some shorts by the second day. Dec is a beautiful time to go, but you need to pack for all eventualities. The weather is very unpredictable.

Another frozen turkey from last year. I had packed a few pairs of jeans and some other stuff but I bought a fleece from the Gap. I had a puffy vest, a hat and gloves on. I will be there again this year and will make sure to pack more long sleeve tops. Thin so I can use for layers.

I will be going from the 1st to the 11th... when all of you talk about the freezing, is it about those dates or after the 10th???

Thanks!

Granted it was record cold but when we went last year we had to go out and buy mittens and hats. And we're from MA so we're used to the cold. 30 degrees in FL is still freezing. Best be prepared for any kind of weather as that is what Dec brings. :goodvibes
