Day 10 - December 9th

I woke up kind of gloomy today, as it was our last full day. We asked the kids what they wanted to do, and dd really wanted to ride at the MK, as she didn't ride much at the other parks. Against my better judgement, knowing Saturday is the worst day for the MK, I took her anyway. It was just the two of us. We got a bus almost immediately and were at the MK in less than 10 minutes. I could see from the stroller line it was going to be busy, but
didn't care. We hit the speedway first, and waited maybe 15 minutes, this is now a favorite ride of hers. We then went back to Fantasyland and rode Small World (her very favorite), yet again, then waited 20 minutes for Peter Pan. Normally I wouldn't wait that long, but it was our last day and we were not in a hurry, it made her happy. We also rode the Carousel and the Barnstormer, which amazingly enough, had no line. We then ate lunch at Cosmic
Rays and slowly strolled out through a couple of stores on Main Street. We then said goodbye to the MK. Terribly sad. We got back to the BC, but there was no sign of dh and ds. Their suits were still there so I knew they weren't at the pool. We looked for them at the arcade, but no luck there. It was so wonderfully warm, we decided to swim in the quiet pool right outside our room. About 45 minutes later they strolled back from direction of
Epcot. Turns out they took the Monorail to the TTC (a huge thrill for ds), then hopped another to the Grand Floridian and rented a water sprite. This one apparently is much faster than the ones at the YC and they had a blast. They were jumping waves made by other boats, and getting sprayed, and were gone almost an hour and only charged for half an hour. Ds couldn't stop talking about it. Then they had taken the monorail (ds's lucky day) to the
Contemporary and had pizza at the Food N Fun Center. Then more monorail rides back to Epcot. On one of these routes, they were able to ride up front again too. Ds was just happy as could be. We spent the afternoon at the pool again. It was quite crowded in the chair area, but the pool is so big, there's plenty of room for everyone. We got out and got dressed, then stopped for dinner at Hurricane Hanna's, on our way to MGM for our final night.
We had wanted to see the MSEP, but seeing the crowds this morning, I decided I did not want to spend our last night fighting crowds for a place to sit. We opted for a repeat of Fantasmic instead. Dd kept saying all week "next time we watch Fantasmic I'll keep my eye's open". I thought it would be good for her to see the whole thing so she would remember it as being wonderful, instead of scary. We had a little spare time, so dh and ds went for
another round of Star Tours before Fantasmic. This time we had to get in line, and it took forever to get seated. We finally got seated about 7:15 or so. We discovered both times though, that in the off season, you can just save your time, and show up right before it starts and still get a good seat. We got soaked last time (and froze) sitting on the right. This time we were on the left, and the wind shifted and we got wet again LOL. Nothing
like last time though. I know I sound like a broken record, but again, we thought it was fabulous! A wonderful way to end the trip. We took our time and did some shopping and penny pressing on the way out. Love those penny presses, I think we did more than the kids did. This time Alexa loved Fantasmic so much she wanted to get a stuffed dragon to play with her Sorcerer Mickey beanie. We had banned any more animals earlier in the trip, as she
had already gotten 8! We went to see if they had a small one in the Fantasmic store, but no dice, only big and huge dragons. The big one was $25, and about 18 inches tall or higher. This time it was daddy who was the big softy. He asked me how many Disney Dollars she had left, so I counted. She had exactly $25 left. Big softy that he is, let her buy it. She was so happy, and we had more stuff to stuff in our bags for our flight tomorrow LOL.
Ds however, ended up coming home with $30 left! I guess when Grandma and Grandpa buy you a monorail and track, what's left to buy. I couldn't believe he didn't buy Spaceship Earth or the Contemporary. Now we have some birthday ideas though LOL. Seeing as Fantasmic was over by 8, we had some time to relax before bed. We took the boat back about 8:45 and I stayed on to go the Boardwalk for some juice. Walking back to the hotel with the Christmas
music playing on the speakers, is so wonderful and relaxing. Again, I was thinking how much I didn't want to leave. When I got back to the hotel, I found my family in the quiet pool. They thought it was so cool to swim outside in the dark. There were actually a lot of people in the pool. After 20 minutes or so, we switched to the hot tub for awhile. This was downright crowded, but very fun. It's hard to get out of the hot tub when it's cool,
but at least our patio door was only steps away, and I had brought out my robe again (the one in the closet, not my new one <G>). We had some quick snacks, and went to bed. A very pleasant last full day in Disney.

I have loved reading all of your reports! *sigh8 to be there right now....

Your daughter's eating habits sound just like mine. I live on potatoes and pasta...

Thank you for posting your trip report. It was fun to share your adventure. By the way, whatever became of the Handcuffs? I too love the penny presses. My wife has the book now and we collect some new ones everytime we go. We even got one at Hershey Park the last time we went. It's not Disney, but it's a pretty good distraction.

The water sprites sound fun. :)

We came home with the Maleficient dragon too. I love her!

Thanks for sharing your wonderful trip with us, elgerber. :)

I wanted the dragon but with the demin jacket I bought for dd no room left for dragon - oh well next time. Thanks for posting!

I really enjoyed reading some of your trip reports. I'm actually trying to search the archives to get them all. My family is going to DW early December 2001 and I was just wondering what your "must do /must see" list was. (Ages of children will be 5 & 6. My parents are also going but I can't tell you their ages - they'd never forgive me).

Thanks so very much,
mulan's mom
