Early Dec 2020 or wait until 2021?

We are planning a 10 day trip to WDW right after Thanksgiving 2020. ust my sister and I (both in our 60’s). I only visit WDW every 3 or 4 years as I live far away. Our favourite parks are Epcot and AK but now that I am hearing about all the construction at Epcot, I am wondering if this is such a good time to go. Will there be construction walls everywhere? Lots of closures? I will really miss Spaceship Earth. We will spend a fair chunk of the day at World Showcase though.

I have also tentatively booked a split stay with 6 nights at Pop and 5 nights at POFQ. Mainly to help the budget. BUT, will a slit stay really hinder my chances for good FP’s - namely FOP? And Star Wars? It just seems a bit crazy to pay for POFQ for our late arrival night and the day we go to the dark side.

Please, all thoughts and tips are greatly appreciated!

Just found your post while searching for others with this same problem! We were gonna go early December 2020 but now I’m wondering if we should postpone to December 2021. We’re DVC and usually go every other year. This next trip though we were gonna take my parents and I’m concerned looking at all the construction/closures...plus looks like lots of fun celebration type stuff and new attractions opening in 2021 for 50th anniversary. Def hate to postpone a trip but we may just have to do it:( we can’t do both years.

I just listened to a DFB podcast about 3 reasons why not to go to WDW in 2020 and 2 reasons why to go. I am feeling even more discouraged now. When I heard about all the construction and closures at Epcot, I was pretty discouraged. We would easily wait until 2021 or 2022 except that we are both in our 60’s and want to go when we are still healthy and able to walk the parks. If your parents and still fairly active and healthy, I would consider waiting until 2021. But, if big crowds would affect their enjoyment, you might want to consider 2020.

My parents are still fairly active and healthy thankfully. Our children are young too...waiting until 2021 would mean they’d be 5 and 7 at that point which may also be nice age to take them (even though we’ve enjoyed trips with them as toddlers/babies). I watched that video too and think we sadly may be set on postponing 2020.
